FORMER: You never were an atheist, so get over yourself. You only say that to become self-important. Shame!

Grumpy Geezer: I guess you haven't been in R&S much today. This question was inspired by a post I read today and it's not the first time I've seen it asked here. Just read some of these answers. Many say just why they do want to know the beliefs of rock stars and movie stars. I thought it was an unusual request and one tinged with judgment, myself.

I think if they learn that some famous people share their beliefs, it's some sort of validation. Religion doesn't seem to be a self-sustaining thing like truth and reality are. Believers are always looking for external validation to maintain the belief. That's why they have to keep going back to church to have the illusions reinforced.

What Christians have you been running around with?
The beliefs of folks in the entertainment industry should be waaay down on the priorities list. There are very few Christians, myself included, who lose sleep over the beliefs held by the icons of popular culture.
As if I could do something about it anyway.

I don't know either as most of them are lost. Even many who claim to be Born Again Christians soon return to their roots. I know of a band who played mainstream rock music. Then, some of their members claimed to have gotten SAVED and the band started playing Christian rock. But, when I listen to their music I find that much of it is doctrinally incorrect. When I looked up the members on the Internet to find out where they are now in their walk with God it is obvious that most of the band were never saved. One guy has his own web site and there's not a word on it about God or being saved. Another member joined a different mainstream rock band. One became an Anglican Priest and as a rule Anglicans are not saved, born again Christians. Out of the entire band only one appears to be still walking with God and is still producing Christian music.

This might sound horrid, but I could care less about the beliefs of rock bands and movie stars. Yes, I hope they know Christ as their personal Saviour, but I do not sit and fret about their eternal fate. God knows their hearts and can place people in their lives to bring about His plan. I am concerned about how MY life is pleasing to God and want Him to use me to bring glory to His wonderful name.

I quite agree. Religion does not dictate WHO a person is, it is only a small part of their life, NOT their whole identity.
The result of people nosing like this is that generalisations are made and stereotypes form.

I think, to be careful what and who you listen to, the mind is very powerful, and also who to watch.

Heh hee. I would not see it is important to all of us. Sometimes we are curious about that. Lyrics are telling if the music is for God, but all type of music is from God. : )

They have to know their beliefs so that they can try to change them.

I will not support anyone in this world who is one the other side. When they wage spiritual war, they give up the chance of me even going to their movie, or buying their album (and I buy these things, I do not download)
