I never found Spot on to work. I ended up going to the vet. It costs about £50 for worming and de-fleaing every 6 months, but it's worth it.

I dont find that spot on always works too well. I would buy a flea comb (available from most pet stores) and comb your kitten paying particular attention to the neck area and by the tail. Keep a jar filled with some water nearby and every so often wipe the fleas and flea dirts off into the water. You will be surprised how many there will be.

Then if you are still finding fleas say a day later, the spot on is not working too well. BUT, get advice from your vet as to another preparation you can use on your kitten because some over the counter ones, are too strong for young kittens.

I would NEVER use anything over the counter...go to the vet actually a couple of baths should rid the kitten of fleas just make sure to keep him/her warm in between baths...the idea of it is that the fleas will drown just watch the face and ears because that is where all the fleas will run and you will have to pick them off...if that doesnt work the vet will sell you the real good stuff for about $10 you wont need an appt just tell them you want flea control and how much your kitten weighs and how old it is

What kind of spot-on? There are many different ones. Pet stores ones don't really work at all, but Frontline, Advantage, Revolution and Advocate from a vets work, they take about 24 hours and last for at least a month - Frontline Plus lasts for 6 weeks.

You usually also need to spray your house as this is where most of the fleas live.

Fleas don't generally live on the animal they live in bedding and carpets and just use animals to feed on. So even if the spot on kills some fleas there may still be lots more living in carpets and bedding. You need Frontline or something similar from your vet and also a spray for your carpets and furnishings. Over the counter products are never any good.

Spot on?? I am not familiar with this brand...anything you can buy from Walmart I do not recommend. I really don't think they work.

Frontline Plus or Advantage (which kills the adult flea, larvae and eggs) has been the most reliable for me.

Also, some kittens you cannot use flea medicaiton on if they are too young....it could really hurt them...ask your vet.

Also water does not kill fleas......use alcohol if using a flea comb

Please don't tell me its Bob Martins Spot On. Its rubbish. Go to your vets I Had this exact problem with my cat. We went the vets it was £30 all in all for flea treatment, that included treatment for your cat and treatment for your house and furniture, it was an extra £2 for a worming tablet. When your cat has fleas its likely they'll get worms so worming them is needed.

Go to the vets your cat must be so uncomfortable.
