Should I do it? Pain? Infection? etc.

Personally I wouldn't,I mean I wouldn't descibe it as a necessity and in the worse case scenario you may get an infection and as it's on your lip I would suspect it to be a pain to try and talk with!.

I had one like 5 months ago. Well, 7 if you count the first day I got it.
I did it without telling my parents and when a 14 year old pierces her own lip, the parents aren't happy.

You should do it only if you want to and if you're going to be patient and diligent enough to take care of it well enough so it won't get a keloid or infection.

Pain I say wasn't bad. The last layer was the one that actually hurt. But if you numb it ahead of time, it should be perfectly fine. It does hurt a bit and feels uncomfortable for at the most 3 days after you pierce it.

As for infection, I didn't get any. Besides, your mouth produces natural bacteria to fight off infection so you won't get an infection. Just rinse your mouth with alcohol-free mouth wash (Crest is good brand) everytime after you eat and brush your teeth well.

Take care not to play with your piercing too often or you'll make it swollen and slow down the healing process. It will take about a month or 2 to heal and 3 months to completely heal.

And don't listen to the "Infection!" or "Scars!" thing other people have mentioned. As I said, if you take good care of it (& I mean, come on. It's low maintnence) you won't get an infection unless you decide to stick a handful of dirt in your mouth and keep it in there all day. And the scars, it most likely won't happen unless you disturb the healing process. Don't play with it while it heals (this is harder than taking care of it. It's really fun to play with it) And the person that said think about a 70 yr old with a piercing, well, news flash. It's not noticeable if you take out the ring or the stud. And oh yeah. It's removeable.

Yeah go for it iv had my lip and tongue pierced for years, they've never been infected.
As long as your a clean person and wash your face as most people do then it should be fine and the part of the piercing inside the mouth cleans its self with your saliva.
But as for pain each to there own isay.
However its over very quick and there may be a little swelling and tenderness but remember to wash it with warm water and a little salt until it heals (usually about 6 weeks for complete healing) after that have fun with it and you can buy all kind of crazy bar's, rings , studs.

no pain but a pinch infection rate is very low clean it twice to three times a day, and use a mild mouth wash or a salt water gurgle.

Seriously. It just feels like you bit/pinched your lip it is not very painful at all.

nose and septum are the most painful piercings.

it would look good on you im sure.

i have had my lip pierced for about 2 years...as long as you take care of it, it shouldn't get infected...and the pain isn't too bad...depends on where you get it done..i have it in the middle...plus i did it myself and it didn't hurt so getting it done professionally shouldn't hurt...i like it a lot...plus it something you can play with in your mouth when you are bored!! i say go for it!

uh.. think scar. my girlfriend had her bellybutton, eyebrow, and nose pierced. they are all horribly scarred. consider if you actually want that.

also, with a lip ring it's a lot easier for an infection to occur because the most bacteria in your body will be in your mouth.

ew.

no i dont think u should unless u dont mind alotta pain and an infection possibly but if it is removavble easily then u should take it out everytime u eat to reduce the risk of infection.

Don't do it unless you enjoy pain, the possibility of infection, and looking gross to everyone else.
