I am making chili in the crock pot for tonight, and it has been cooking for 6 hours already. I forgot to add the beans until just now, and will 2 hours be enough time for the beans to cook it in? Should I put it on high for the last 2 hours?

I'm not sure how long it will take to cook them.

Thanks!

They are canned. :)

well, I read somewhere to add them after the rest has been cooking awhile, so the beans don't fall apart, but I didn't mean to wait this long!

Are thy dried? If so, it's too late.

If they are canned, throw them in, no change to temp. Try not to leave the lid off very long.

How do you forget beans when making chili?? ;o)

If you're using beans in the can...they are already cooked, so you can just add them now and it will be great! I use beans out of the can all the time...such as garbanzo beans for my grean salads or just making a bean salad with balsamic, EVOO, sugar, onions, salt and pepper.

Well, a chili purist would "don't put beans in it at all". So, leave the beans out this time and tell everybody you're makin' "Real Chili".

It's not how few mistakes you make in life, that counts, it's how well you cover them up.

If you are using canned beans, 2 hours is plenty of time - you don't need to put on high. If they are dried beans, then I'm not sure

I would cook the beans on top of the stove and then add them to the rest of the ingredients.
