Science and history can not show that cavemen did not have a real language. That statement is ridiculous. Cave men were prehistoric. There is not one historical cave man in history. Science has no way of knowing if cave man could speak or not. I would be very surprised to find that they had no way of communication.

Some christians take the Genesis 1-11 account literally, others don't. The christian faith is focussed on what Christ did for us. Paul and the other apostles don't argue very much from the Adam and Eve narrative in persuading people to believe. Paul uses it in a very symbolic way in Romans 6, using it for 'types' of what was before Jesus, and what is now the case for believers. Jesus Himself only mentioned Adam and Eve once, according to my memory of the gospels, although He does seem to have regarded Noah and the flood as an event that happened.

"One example: the Bible says God gave us different languages so we wouldn't be as powerful as him."
- just one more example of how petty and insecure this god character is..
religious folks have a lot in common with cavemen; many fundamental beliefs regarding the nature of reality, or the physical world...these two sets of ideas would certainly be more similar than dissimilar

If you are referring to Neanderthals, we don't know if they had a language, but since they did have a hyoid bone, they were capable of speech.
My personal belief is that we interbred. Where did Cain's wife come from if he was the only child? Several generations later, Lamech took 2 wives, Adah and Zillah. These people came from somewhere. (Genesis 4:17-19) Since they had names, they had speech. Lamech didn't name them like we would a pet, since they already adult.

You can be a Christian and read the Bible, but you do not have to take the Bible as scientific fact, actually you shouldn't take it as fact.
Many Christians feel this way, and they do believe in science, the Bible is a wonderful book and you can learn much from it, but again it is not science or fact.

Not all Christians believe in literal creationism and have a more scientifically based view of prehistory.
