I don't know the weather there but they grow wherever they are planted in California. They may not reproduce there if there is inadequate moisture. In both species there is a sensitivity to the amount of water available year round. Giant sequoias have snow around them 6 months a year and summer thunderstorms. Coast redwoods have winter rain(some snow) and coastal fog all summer when it is otherwise dry. I have seen sempervirens in the sierras and giants in the coastal belt I live in the costal belt and have a giant in my yard. Dawn redwood also grows in the coastal belt(native of China)
