I'm almost always a few minutes late for church. How late is too late?

Should I just skip it if I can't make it on time? Is it distracting to you and does it affect your worship if I come in a few minutes late? I have to take two little children and two disabled seniors, so that is why we are often late to church.

Kazacan; you are being a harsh, are you not?

You are right that in order to make it a joyous time there shouldn't be rushing to get them there on time. However you don't have two physically and mentally disabled seniors and two little children of your own to ready.

Do I want to draw attention to myself so that people can see what a saint I am? What a dumb thing to say. Do you make this comment to demonstrate how wonderfully perfect you are? You, The first one to cast stones..

I would think that the members and Pastor understand if you are late from time to time. After all, the Church is a place of grace. Everyone should be pleased that the seniors have a way to get there. Unless your Seniors can't get going a little earlier, I would tell the Pastor and leaders that 'this' is as early as I can get started because of 'this, this, this,'. Christians understand that Seniors have problems in the morning. The little ones can have their clothes put out the night before and cereal bowls or whatever already set out. Children do better than the elderly. The bottom line, you need some help with this, so I hope you have a family member that will lighten your load. Too late is when you miss the Sermon and Communion. After all, that's the main reason for going to worship. To be fed and fellowship with the Lord.
I hope this helped.

You know that you're taking two kids and two seniors and you know you're always late so what's the problem here....you need to get started fifteen minutes earlier!! The old folks probably hate being rushed anyway and going to church should be a joy for them - not a pushy, rushed chore. When people arrive late, it is VERY distracting to others who have managed to get their priorities straight and it is an insult to the pastor who has been planning his service all week. If you cannot get parked and seated before the service starts, then stay home and listen to a televised service. Really. We can manage to get there on time with a disabled adult daughter in spite of rain or snow; another family arrives on time with 7 kids aged 1 to 16, one in a wheelchair, young moms and dads manage to get there with new babies in arms. You are creating a small scene and I must wonder if you do this intentionally so people notice you arriving with the old folks, maybe thinking"Oh my , what a saint she is!" Come on now, fess up...are you being a diva? The Lord knows you're a good person. You don't need to shout to get His attention! Show Him his glory and respect and get to church on time!!
ADD: Why do people write in asking for opinions if they only want to read answers that agree with what they want? Sorry but other people manage with disabilities . You asked if people being late was distracting to others. It doesn't bother some people but it does bother others. You don't want to be bothered by other people's feelings if they don't match your own. You don't want to manage your time better and you are seeking approval for your reasons. If you can't handle any criticism at all , it seems that the opinion that you are a bit of a DIVA is a correct one. Cool your jets and watch the clock!

Being 'born once more' does NOT make one a whole member of the Church. But it does mark the starting of a amazing travel of transformation and regeneration. There are many levels to go via earlier than one is a Living Stone within the One Church of God. Just as a youngster is born into this lifestyles and has to develop and be trained; so too do those people who are 'born once more' need to develop and mature till they 'Put on Christ.' 'Church' isn't anything you'll be able to or could wish to go away, for the True Church revel in the Love of God and there may be not anything in all of production that may separate us from God's Love as soon as one has woke up to its Beauty.

dont let being late stop you from going to church. Growing upmy family was consistantly late. If not for youself keep it up for your children. You are setting a wonderful example by going. The level of distraction probably depends on where you enter the auditorium (or whatever your main meeting area is). No matter what just try to enter as quietly as possible. Hopefully people will understand your situation, and instead of getting upset, be willing to accept that sometimes these things happen. I commend you for getting yourself and 4 others ready and to church... even if it is late. :)

If you're always a few minutes late, change your morning routine and start earlier. It is habit and gives people the impression you think you're so important that everything/everyone has to wait on you. You know you have two little children and two disabled people to take care of. It's a simple matter of starting early enough to always arrive a bit early.

You should probably make a mental note and tell yourself that service starts 15 or 30 minutes earlier. Pretend it starts at 8:00 if it really starts at 8:30. I used to do it and still do when it is something important like church or a meeting at work. When you do this don't tell yourself you have a few minutes left and it's ok to slack, just do it. If you don't like that idea, then set your clock 10 minutes ahead in every room and that will help alot!

Sounds like the Pool of Siloam, there was not one who would take the poor cripple into the pool when an Angel came down to stir the waters for a healing ...

The Pastor should be doing what your doing. Tell him to trade his LEXUS for a Van and a Driver to help these souls.

Start a little earlier to compensate but don't stop going. No, wouldn't distract me.

it's God- it's better to take what you can and have a few eyes on you, rather than miss the whole thing and have God's eyes on you
