To quote...
"There's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes"

I was on the beach today, not quite warm enough to go for a swim (Some did!!) but I had my shirt off.

UK, for it's latitude, is a tropic! Compare our latitude with the same in Canada or Europe...they have yards and yards of snow.
We have the Gulfstream keeping us free from all that. Until the Icecaps melt, and the brine gulfstream meets the freshwater melt and thus (Remember school physics) the density of the fresh will win, and drive the gulfstream under it....so it will really be cold in UK then. This is not a ploy for the enviro mental ists to join in BTW....just a statement that at the moment the ice is melting. Nothing man can do will change it. Nor did we start it.

It's very mild at the moment. You think the UK is cold, you should go to Austria in winter. Then you'll know cold!

If you're Australian, get yourself a pair of good shoes and long pants and a real jacket (denim is no good) and a scarf. Dress for the weather!

It just is, we might not be the coldest in terms of the number on the thermometer, but with constant rain, wind and damp cold it certainly feel's like it. I couldn't believe it when i was talking to some canadians a few years ago (from Ottawa i think) who were complaining about the cold! Apparently they have "dry cold" we have "damp cold". Also when i was in Alberta last year i asked someone "how cold is it?" and he said "about -18c" i was shocked, it felt like what one or two degrees Celcius below freezing would feel like in Northern England. Very strange!

It isn't cold here.

Even in the middle of winter temperatures rarely go below -5 degrees C.

Compare that with the middle of Germany, Chicago or even New York.

its not ,, compared to some countries like parts of us and Canada. not to mention. a huge part of Europe. UK gets off pretty lightly, we've not had snow in Liverpool, for god knows how many years, yer a few flakes. but nothing more. the summer was crap this year. but no one froze to death. i love British weather so diverse. never know what to expect. every sunny day is a gift from heaven. and gods gift . is we do not really suffer extreme bad weather
