The person you're talking to must know beforehand who you're talking about. If you do, the sentence above is correct. In that case you don't have to use 'él'.
If they don't, then you need to use the pronoun and also be more explicit as to the second pronoun, because it's the same one for other persons. So, you need to be redundant and say "le enseñó a él". So, the sentence would be:
"Ãl le enseñó a él a tocar la guitarra". It sounds weird, so you might want to use the name of the person instead of the pronoun:
"Juan le enseñó a él a tocar la guitarra"
"Ãl le enseñó a Pedro a tocar la guitarra"
"Juan le enseñó a Pedro a tocar la guitarra"
