My cat is about 8 years old, he's an inside cat, and only is outside when he escapes every once in awhile... For about 6 months now he crouches down and coughs... kinda like the kind you just can't get out. It doesn't necassarily sound painful, just yucky... What could this be? I know I need to take him to the vet and I will, but I'm just wondering what I should expect.

It could be a hairball. Get some hairball medicine from any pet store and try that first. It's a lot less expensive than a vet visit. If that doesn't cure the coughing take your cat to the vet.

You kitten might have an larger respiration an infection or maybe tom cat leukemia. the two could be deadly without suited vet care and medicines. My family contributors and that i rescued an deserted kitten years in the past, and he or she improve into coughing and choking plenty, and having little sneezing assaults. We rushed her to the vet and he or she had tom cat leukemia, we did as much as improve into humanly conceivable for her, giving her some meds as directed and in actuality enable her stay out her existence in our abode as an incredibly enjoyed and spoiled pal contributors. She in hassle-free terms survived some weeks, and the only good area is that we've been waiting to rescue her and supply her some weeks of happiness and care in the previous she went to the Rainbow Bridge. Please take your kitten in as quickly as conceivable, or a minimum of call the place of work and ask for some advice, cats and kittens can get simple colds besides, yet we've had cats in our family contributors for some years and a chilly will in hassle-free terms final some days on the main. Your kitten sounds extra ill than that. i'm hoping you get the help that she desires quickly, and that she would be in a position to be advantageous. Pets are the style of remarkable area of our lives, that's confusing while they are no longer feeling nicely and we are uncertain of what to do to assist them to get extra useful.

Your kitty might have some very nasty hairballs. Or- I hate to say it, but he might have picked up something the last time he escaped.

Your vet will want to run tests, of course. He might even ask if you want blood tests and x-rays: Sometimes the cough can mean something else. Go ahead and get them: They'll be expensive, but they might show you what you're dealing with too.

If it's treatable, your vet should be able to give you a prescription and make suggestions about feeding him.

Good luck!
