Christians and Atheists feel free to chime in... I'm really curious about this...

MOST things always have some leeway in probability...

but has anyone calculated the possibility of his existence???

It's very difficult to calculate the probability that God exists. I have seen some attempts to do so in the past, but quite honestly I don't think they were very valid and they didn't take very many things into account. You can read about one attempt here:

For the record, I'm an atheist and I don't think there is a very high probability that God exists. It seems to me that omnipotence and omniscience are difficult things to have in a logical universe, and by no means necessary to explain anything we observe in the universe we live in.

Well, we as a society have no way of determining the origin of matter. There are only theories that do not make any sense like the Big Bang theory. All of the theories science has come up with violate laws of physics. Something does not come from nothing, and everything in the universe slowly winds down toward states of lower energy. Conservation of matter negates the possibilty of a big bang occuring and starting this whole universe. I had a biology professor once who hated christians and made inappropriate comments about then during class, I once confronted him with questions one the origin of matter and he stated that he 'could not deny the existence of a higher being who may have created the universe.' This was due to the fact that the existence of God is a Universal Negative which means his existence cannot be proven either way since there is no test that can be done to substantiate anyones claims. Following these lines of thinking, there MUST be a higher force that created matter, and therefore life. This sounds far fetched to athiests and such, but science would have to abandon a lot of physics and chemistry LAWS to consider the big bang type origins true. The fact is that science cannot explain the origin of matter, and that some eternal being had to have created matter. And just to mention it: we have no concept of eternity because we live in a finite world with finite lives.

once you look on the sky on a sparkling night, are you no longer surprised to determine numerous stars? How do you account for their life? And what with regard to the residing issues in the worldwide—colourful vegetation, birds with their friendly songs, efficient whales that bounce interior the sea? The record is going on and on. All of this won't have take place by ability of coincidence. No ask your self many consider the Bible’s beginning phrases: “interior the start God created the heavens and the earth”!—Genesis a million:a million. Mankind is a great deal divided on the question of God. some think of that God is an impersonal tension. hundreds of thousands worship ineffective ancestors, believing that God is in basic terms too distant to be approached. however the Bible shows that the authentic God is a genuine individual who shows heat activity in us as persons. because of the fact of this it encourages us to “look for God,” asserting: “he's no longer some distance off from every physique individuals.”—Acts 17:27. What does God appear like? a number of his servants have seen visions of his wonderful presence. In those he has symbolized himself as seated on a throne, amazing brightness extending from him. despite the fact that, people who beheld such visions in no way defined a different face. (Daniel 7:9, 10; Revelation 4:2, 3) this is by using the fact “God is a Spirit”; he does no longer have a actual physique. (John 4:24) basically, it rather is impossible to make an precise actual photograph of our writer, for “no guy has seen God at any time.” (John a million:18; Exodus 33:20) yet, the Bible teaches us lots approximately God.

i disagree with the first answer as long as the odds are greater than zero it is possible, highly unlucky but not impossible
the odds that out of chaos earth would form and i would one day be created and be typing on this keyboard to you are extremely small but look at me here i am
junk yard to Cadillac seems impossible unless you are the Cadillac. what are the odds of the junk yard to Cadillac? i do not know, but i do know it is less than 1 in infinity
it is called fuzzy math
if i took a gallon of water and poured it in to the ocean and gave it time to mix evenly in the whole world what are the odds that a gallon of water taken from the ocean would contain at least one molecule of the original gallon of water

the answer is 100%
there are more molicules of water in a gallon than there are gallons of water in the world

but even in the junk yard to Cadillac example one could say god was the explosion

i give the odds 50/50

It's just my opinion, but I would place the statistical probability of the existence of the bible god at 0%.

Ditto CathCrus & Armed

The chances of the DNA with it's integrated complexity (likened to a complex machine shop) accidentally 'bumping' into just the right place time after time is a real long shot.

I have no need to calculate the probablility of His existence.
He lives within my heart.
I believe.

Everything in this life is not all statistics and numbers.
There is more to life than probability and percentages.

actually the mathematical probability between 2 choices is 50%, since there are only 2 possible answers, yes or no. No matter what anyone says, the probability doesn't change

you calculate probabilty on statitics and factual evidence as the argument for Christians versus atheists is based on faith vs facts a probability rate would be impossible if not nonexistent based on faith.

I don't need statistics to prove God is real. I woke up this morning and the earth is still in orbit, so I know he is real and does truly exist.
