Vanilla Frosting
1/4 cup soft or melted margarine
Good dash salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons milk
2 cups powdered sugar
In a medium sized bowl, combine all of the ingredients. Mix and mix until all is smooth. Spread upon a 9 by 13-inch cake and serve. This is a very simple frosting which is put to it's best advantage on spicy cakes, like Old Fashioned Gingerbread or Cinnamon Oatmeal Cake. It is also quite tasty on plain cookies like Quick Sugar Cookies. This recipe is easily doubled or tripled, and can also be tinted with food coloring for cool holiday effects.

buttercream frosting
blend in some milk, butter and a tsp of vanilla, to the consistency you want in the frosting.
I would add the milk a tbsp at a time.
About 1/8c - 1/4c of butter
I'm sorry, I've been making it for 43 years and can't really tell you the amounts. Powdered sugar was in boxes when I started back then, and it was box of PS per cake.
Now I just throw it in a bowl and mix by hand still.

i admire a glaze on my cakes rather of frosting. it relatively is quite and could soak into the cake and make it so a lot greater moist in case you poke some holes with a fork interior the cake previously you place the glaze on. With a glaze all you like is a few cup of powdered sugar, a tsp. of vanilla flavoring, and a few tablespoon of milk. blend it altogether until you get the consistency which you relatively prefer. you would be able to could desire to upload a splash greater milk or slightly greater powdered sugar yet you will get the dangle of it genuine rapid as you unfold it on your cake. It makes an magnificent frosting. sturdy luck.

sure--
I never use a recipe, but I take about a box of powdered sugar and about 1/2c of either butter or shortening (butter if you want "butter creme") and a little vanilla. Mix it with an electric mixer until its the right consistancy. add milk a teaspoon at a time if it's too thick.

1 cup icing sugar, 1 tbp butter, vanilla essence.
Melt butter by putting boiling water over the top and allowing to drip into the icing sugar. Once butter is disolved mix all to paste. If needed add more water or icing sugar.
I'll have a piece of cake please.

bowl, icing sugar, butter, vanilla extract, small amount of milk or water. Whip with electric mixer butter and icing sugar and then add vanilla and small amount of milk or water and keep mixing with mixer until you have the consistency you want. Remember a little water or milk at a time, like a tablespoon.
Good luck!
