Today before Church service a few of us men were outside greating people as they entered the building and we were talking. A man that I was talking to works in the same business I work and he was asking why the people in my office had not donated to the charity drive. I said I don't know why. He asked if I donated and I laughed, thought for a few minutes and almost said no but I said yes I did. Then he said "well I didn't see your name on the contributors list". I said "by the way I gave to the Baptist Childrens home if you need to know". He didn't respond to that but he did say that he was giving $2 a month to his charity and I guess he is one of the leaders of the Charity drive. I felt that asking these particular questions in front of others at church was totally out of line. Do you think this man is a Christian?

Listen if you don't want to judge then DON'T ANSWER. A yes or no answer would be appreciated. This is just a gee wiz question. Thank you.

with the way he acted, he's a christian by name only and not by deeds.when it comes to charities, it is better that you keep it secret and not boast about it. true christians are supposed to be humble and never boastful. the best thing for you to do is pray for that person. he really needs it a lot.

You can't judge a person based on one incident. So YES i believe he could be a christian. NO, I do not think it was right of him to ask about your donations. I also believe you shouldn't have lied. You are volunteering your time (greating lol is that better then greeting?) at the church which is a donation. You shouldn't let anyone make you feel small. Ask him next time if he would like to donate time instead of $$ and see if he takes you up on it.

Christianity is defined by a specific relationship with Christ. Christianity is not defined by a person's maturity or actions. Not all Christians act as they should. No one can answer this question without being able to know the man's mind and heart. Sorry he acted that way. You can't say whether or not he's a Christian, and I can't either.

Yes, I think its possible he is a Christian who made some bad choices. Being a Christian doesn't make him perfect. He is flawed just like anyone else. If that were the case, no one would need church. You can always kindly confront him and let him know you didn't appreciate the way he handled the situation.

His actions do not mean he isn't a Christian. It may only mean that he is still on the lower rungs of the ladder to greater understanding of how we ought to be. Christianity is not a cure all for ignorance or bad behaviour. It is not necessarily a pass on it either but it is a guarantee of forgiveness when we ask for it from a genuine heart.

That's not the way a born again child of God, should act, but that doesn't say that he is not a Christan. If he believe with his heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, and he died for his sins and was raised up for his righteousness and he confess that with his mouth, he is a Christian. But a Christian has to learn how to walk and talk as a Christian should walk and talk by the renewing of his mind..But no one but he and God can answer that question..."Is he a Christan"

His actions were wrong, but I don't think that determines whether he is saved or not. We all do dumb things and are still Christians. Who knows, he may have regretted his words already. You, as a Christian brother need to pray for this person, take him aside, talk to him and forgive him. Ask him if he is saved, if not, pray even harder. We are often so sensitive about how others treat us and turn angry or upset rather than forgiving. We are to correct one another with love and kindness. Blessings.

Doesn't the Bible say when giving alms-
But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth.” Matthew 6:3

It sounds like the gentleman is more interested in letting others know what he is doing than in truly helping others.

I would have probably said "just $2 a month" and walked away shaking my head.

And the word is familiar.

I will not judge nor supply a yes or a no,

To hold people accountable is not a shortcoming and as it may be offensive to those who have not contributed my only question is are they offended because he is asking or because they would have to answer at church that they did not act charitably?
