Jesus was usually cryptic about it, but yes, he did claim to be God. One example is when somebody called him "good teacher." Jesus said, "Why do you call me good? Nobody is good but God alone."
But we find everywhere else in the new testament that Jesus was completely without sin, which means he was good. So this was Jesus' argument:
1. Nobody is good but God alone.
2. Jesus is good.
3. Therefore, Jesus is God.
But Jesus didn't pray to himself. He prayed to the Father. Both the Father and the Son are the same God, but they are not the same person.

Without digging out the Bible for "Exact" quotes, (which really would make this answer seem much more valid), I'm going to say not really. He never really comes out and says, I'M GOD!! He is the Son of God, and reading in Revelations, it clearly speaks of the Father and the Son as two different people. People really take it upon themselves to think that Jesus is actually God, and I'm not saying they're wrong, but I've never really went with the idea that God is Jesus, the Holy Spirit, etc etc. He created all things, but that doesn't mean that he is all of those things as well. If it makes you feel any better, I did take a Bible course in High School, and this was a heated topic of discussion in the New Testament semester. Hope this helped.

Good question. Yes, Jesus did refer to Himself as the I AM which is what God the Father called himself in the old testament. Yes, Jesus prayed as a human to God the Father, because He became human for a short time. God is a triune being consisting of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Different, yet all the same.

That's exactly how you know that Jesus is NOT God. What would be the point in praying to himself? Or sacrificing himself by crucifixion?
The Bible does not state that Jesus is God. It says clearly that he is the Son of God. Jesus never made that claim either. In fact he insisted vigorously that he was the Son and the only way to get to the Father was through him.

many verses in the bible-old and new testament point to Jesus and the Son of God. but for the other people during those times, they did not expect the Son of God to come as an ordinary person hence many people did not believe. God has three personifications-God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit who is with us when Jesus ascended into heaven.this is quite complicated and it will take you more than Yahoo Answers to know and understand the divinity of Jesus Christ.

For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten Son to die for us so that we could have eternal life. John 3:16
God made himself into Jesus (His Son and separate part of himself) to be born a human being (a human that could live, breath, eat and BLEED-because God himself cannot die, bleed or be killed) While Jesus was here in his human body, yet the had part of Him that was human was Jesus.
A human that would later be sacrificed for our sins. There is the Trinity - Father, Son & Holy Spirit which is what lives in us until Christs return....even though the Holy Spirit lives inside us Christians, wes till have to pray for direct contact with God.
Jesus had angels minister to him and comfort him, he had to pray to the Father above to get this......because at the time, he was human...an extra-ordinary human

Yes Jesus claimed to be God. Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy spirit are called the trinity. They are all different but all the same. Jesus is God's son. He was sent to die for us because there is no human capable of being sinless. sin is in our nature Jesus was the perfect lamb that was sent to die so that we could be saved. The Holy Spirit is what lives inside of us onced we are save and God is the one that created everything. but they are all the same it is one of those things that are human minds are incapable of understanding. Jesus says in the Bible I and my father are one. Making Jesus equal to God.

READ the bible verses! There is the GOD HEAD consisting of 3 ( jesus is the son of God - in amanner that we may not understand), the father-the son -the holy ghost is easiest for us to grasp. A nichols pocket encyclopedia is a good help/guide to finding answers for many questions. Also, a Dixon analytical bible is a great asset to study, as much is listed in right where you are reading to refer to other verses and helps.

Jesus showed He was God by constantly doing things only God could do, including forgiving sins, empoering His priests to forgive sins, and accepting worship. Thomas addressed Him as "my lord and my God". Jesus didn't correct Him.) Jesus didn't pray to Himself. He prayed to the Father, who is a separate and distinct Person. He also didn't send Himself upon the Apoastles after He ascended. He sent the Holy Spirit, Who is likewise a separate and distinct Person.
