In part, yes. If you mean that that the lack of a god belief is a default mode of thinking do to belief in real things that's wrong.
Atheists simply don't believe in fictional characters or place any value in any such character having the ability to "save" or "cure".
A good atheist is tolerant though and as long as the person with the god belief isn't proselytizing or trying to interject public policy with the god belief simply looks the other way.

The answer to your question is an obvious no. The entire population of atheists do not share the same beliefs. There are some extremists with very contrasting beliefs as to the more mellow non-believers. Add in a "some" between "that" and "atheists" and we have relatively open question. However, the correct answer to this one is.. no.
Try rephrasing your biased and generalizing questions. It can make for a more debatable topic.

Perhaps some. You can't generalize though so the answer is no. The word simply means without theism. There is no 'why' attached to it.
It would be like asking why is someone 'not' racist.
That doesn't mean you're not going to get all kinds of reasons for it from people here claiming to speak for all atheists. Atheists can be just as flawed as anyone else. I even see a couple of wrong definitions of the word from people claiming to be atheists.
---
Kudos to fightinggamer103 for putting it so succinctly and being one of the very few here (including atheists) who knows the meaning of the word.
If anything this question has lowered my opinion of atheists. Not that it has raised my opinion of theists. But it's very clear there are a great many (at least here) claiming to be atheist who are misguided.

I believe in an imaginary god, does that count? So I guess I'm not an atheist.

I do not believe in God because there is absolutely no evidence that He exists. If God's existence is proven and He is the violent, jealous and vengeful God of the Old Testament, then I will still not worship Him.

Want to know what I think is funny? Atheists dont believe in God, but they must believe He is there to NOT believe He is there. Do you understand what I mean? But they dont believe in God, that is true.
To the former atheist: Praise God that He changed your heart! To all the other atheists, that person is your proof that God is real! Also, just look around, or even at your self..... Do you really think our intricate bodies and our structure could have REALLY came from a little prokaryotic cell? Our brain... you really think they could have developed from that? DO you know how we see? The images go into our brain UPSIDE down, the brain sorts it out, and sends it back to our eyes the right way, and that is basically how we see. I dont think that came from a little cell. We have a wonderful maker who made us how we are...

Atheism - (saying that you don't believe in God) is actually just a semantic error.
As long as I can admit that there is something I don't understand I'm admitting the existence of the unknown.
God is only one of the names we use to describe that which we don't understand. For instance how did we get here?
There really isn't anything particularly religious about it - it's simple logic.
People who say they are atheists are using the word Atheism to describe that which most other people use the word God to describe.
They just want to be different.
And that's OK.
Funny thing is - the greatest Athiest of modern times - Bertrand Russell - he who had the greatest arguments of all time to support this idea, even he changed his mind and decided that he was wrong before he died.

I like to think that I only believe in things that are real and actually exist, so yes, that would be why I don't believe in god, angels, fairies or santa claus.

Pretty much so. I do not believe that any supernatural beings exist. That includes gods, angels, demons, devils, ghosts, spirits, genies, fairies, goblins, trolls, sprites and whisps.
