I want to try something different. I usually make a chocolate cake that I found in a Hershey's cookbook I have, but i'm wondering if anyone has any interesting cake recipes that are worth giving a try.

This recipe works great and, depending on your imagination, can become so many other recipes. It's not from scratch but is easy, quick and everyone loves it.

1 box chocolate cake mix
1 small box Cook and Serve chocolate pudding
2 cups milk
1/2 c mini chocolate morsels
1/2 c chopped pecans or walnuts

That's all the ingredients. No oil - no eggs - no other ingredients but what's listed!! Isn't that great?

Make up the pudding in a pan and once it's boiled the listed amount of time, pour it directly into the dry cake mix and stir it until no dry mix is left. Pour into a sprayed cake pan (either a 9x9" cake pan or a mini sheetcake pan). Sprinkle on the mini chocolate chip morsels and then sprinkle on the nuts. Bake in a preheated 350º oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. The mini morsels and nuts are the topping. (You can NOT use instant pudding with this - it HAS to be the kind you cook).

Now, think of all the possibilities:

White cake with lemon pudding
Chocolate cake with coconut cream pudding
White cake with pistachio pudding

And for the frosting you could use:

What I listed above or:

7-Minute frosting
Icing
Canned frosting of your choice

It is definitely a fun recipe and will give you different results with each flavor you choose.

Lazy old me, I go to the store and buy a box of cake and then use the amount of eggs, milk and oil that they require and bake it accordingly.
