I see the future. In twenty years he opens the first fart museum. Support him now or you may not get to share in the wealth and fame.

Your wife is right, this is probably just a phase. However if this phase doesn't stop in a month or two talk to your wife and tell your son it is inappropriate to fart in jars and that now hes "old enough"( even if he is just 6 or 5) to know not to do stuff like that.

Uh no it is not normal. it is a phase, he probably picked it up from one of his little farty friends. you should make him throw the jars away, dismantle that shelf and the next time he does it cause you know he is going to do it again right? then you should take something away that he likes (uh punishment). Until he understands that he cannot just do what he wants to do cause he wants to do it. That is not a normal folkway and if you let him continue to act out, then he is going to start doing other things that are deviant that won't be as harmless as that. Also, he is doing what is called a split. that is he is splitting you and your wife on this issue. you and your wife need to be on the Same Page at All Times when it comes to discipline so that he won't feel like one of you is the weak link.
hope this helps phat beatz

Don't put it in jars. Just poot and let everybody smell it. That's what I do! It smells wonderful too! Sometimes I kill myself when I do it but oooooooooooooooooooh it smells wonderful. It smells like sulfur! I pooted at the store one time and I act like I didn't do it. Two guys were behind me and I walked off. The one guy says did you hear that??????????? I walked off like it was nothing. I couldn't go back around the corner but my stomach sure did feel alot better! So pooooooooooooooot if you got to. I think I'm about to poot right now :)!

that is abnormal, but yes, your wife may be right, it could be a phase. support him for now, but if he continues, you may have to talk to him. if it's a hobby, yes, talk to him. that is not an appropriate hobby for children, and i think your wife should know that. i would start by being gentle about it, but if it gets out of control you should be smore strict with him and talk to him about it. i suppose it all depends on his age. if he is 8 and over, i think that is different and by that age he should know better. its probably just a phase if he is a young child, in preschool or just a toddler.

How old is your son? If he's five or six or so, just take a picture of the "fart shelf" to show his girlfriend in ten years.
If he's ten or eleven, you might want to take him to a psychologist.
If he's twenty-nine, mind your own business. :P

So not normal. I definitely think he is more your wife's son than yours. If she supports that. The kid needs a new hobby! Mommy's baby, Daddy's maybe. Good luck with that one!

This is weird and his peers will think it is strange to.Instead of criticizing his hobby, take him to join a club, maybe too do with insects, nature, things like that.
