well been to a doctor (long story been to many), and she said that i have swollen glands and is checking for thyroid problems in some tests. but you know that place where you glands are underneath your jaw? and the pressure points there that can make you faint?
well how come i can hear A my heart beat in there when i press, and B i hear this buzzing, pumping sound in the back of my neck.
all this is connected to the trapt nerve feeling going from my neck into the left side of my head. it feels like a pressure thats going to explode.
i had a clear blood test - blah blah. but what could this be? maybe i have a blood clot in the brain?
and if i do am i snookered?
i am young and hoping i have a chance.
when i pressed there i started seeing a black tunnel. thats not normal right?
i have such a pressure on my larynx, and i find it hard to speak without it sounded slighty hoarse. it feels like my voice box is being pushed.
my headache on the left side goes to my eye. what is this?

thanks colin. you gave the better answer here. instead of speculation you gave facts based on the symptoms described.
i have since been to the doctor and she thinks very similar to what you said.
and yes it is also stress.
thanks for your answers

this sounds textbook, what i mean is, it sounds like you are, i don't know, a med student? and you're throwing out this stuff to see who can properly diagnose you........or maybe it's real, lol.
i actually knew someone with similar symptoms and it turned out to be tumors. i would call my PCP, explain how you feel and demand a MRI to start with........if she/he disagrees, i would go to the Emergency Room, tell them the story while you shop around for another doctor.
peace and good luck.

First when you feel a beat you have touched the carotid artery. It is a main blood vessel to the brain. Have you ever seen karate film's when one of the fighters hit the side of the neck and he faints or falls to the ground? It means they temporary stopped the blood going to the brain shutting off air to the brain making you dizzy and faint.
If you will to the library or on the internet they will be able to show you that a thyroid is a butterfly shaped organ it can swell and push other gland out of it's way it can cause pressure and could be crowding everything which makes you feel like you want to black out when you put more pressure on these artery's. My guess is they might take this organ out and it will stop making you feel faint and black out or tunnel vision.
Then all you had to do is take a pill for the rest of your life.
Also when there is pressure it will have to be relieved by going to other parts of the brain and the pressure may put more pressure behind the eye wall.
As soon as they can get your thyroid all worked out you will feel a lot better just hang on. Good Luck!

Hi,
The black tunnel you DEScribing When You Press your neck is coz your pressing on the major jugular veins probably that supply your brain with blood so its hardly surpising that you seeing a black tunnel coz blood is bein reduced to your eyes and i bet the side you press on more that eye is more affected.
Have you a trapped nerve or what or are you just thinking you have.
I can hear my own heart beat as well sometimes i dont think its anything to worry about are your ears blocked?
Maybe you have a virus this could be why your glands are raised and why you have a sore throat. Im sure the doc would of realised if you had a blood clot.
Take a chill pill.
xx

From the symptoms you describe you probably have thyrotoxicosis-over-activity of the thyroid gland in the base of your neck. The thyroid gland produces a hormone called thyroxin, which regulates your metabolism. The pressure point you refer to is the carotid artery, which pumps oxygenated blood to your brain from your heart, and you have two of them, one on either side of your neck. You also have two jugular veins and they return the de-oxygenated blood the heart too. Thyrotoxocosis also produces a rapid heart beat and palpitations.
That buzzing, pumping sound you are hearing is probably your pituitary gland, which has probably been over-stimulated by your over-active thyroid gland. The pituitary gland produces the growth hormone, and to produce the growth hormone it needs thyroxin. To much thyroxin, however, causes toxic reactions in the body, which I think you are experiencing at the moment because of your obvious anxiety. A classic symptom of thyrotoxicosis is a hoarse voice, probably caused by pressure on your larynx by your thyroid gland. Another classic symptom is pain in the eyes due to pressure on the optic nerves, which also cause a migraine type headache. Usually on the left side.
Swollen glands usually indicate an infection, for example, glandular fever which can be successfully treated by a course of antibiotics. As a precautionary measure your doctor also want's to rule out thyroid problems before he/she deals with the possibilty of an infection. If there is a thyroid problem your doctor will prescribe antithyroid medication that controls and regulates your thyroid hormone secretions-after the infection has been eradicated. Finally, you are not going to die, you do not have a brain tumour, but you do have a serious problem, so please cooperate with your doctor and be patient. OK.

Just relax, and stop prodding yourself in the neck, because you are making yourself more worried than you need to be. Many people get swollen glands, lightheadedness, and vision changes when they are coming down with a cold, or you may have migraine headaches due to environmental allergens, so congestion plus headache symptoms come at the same time. Wait for the test results, before you start worrying about how you're too young to die, because most likely it's nothing too serious.

i don't have an email of any doctor. i do recommend seeing a different doctor. some of what you are describing sounds like either nerve damage or anxiety (or both) if all your doctor is doing is blood work that isn't showing anything then it is time for her to find different tests and things to do to find the problem. if the doctor is not willing to do what it takes to find out what's wrong with you switch doctors. in the meantime you can also check out www.webmd.com i hope you feel better and best of luck!

Right! Your GP says some test on your Thyroid need doing. She is taking a view that this is the cause and will tell you the results. Wait for them before you ask any more questions and get quacks answering them.
If you get a negative from the Thyroid you will get a letter telling you to see another Consultant so take the advice of the GP, not anybody at all on this site, for your own peace of mind.

Go see a better doctor at a very reputable hospital, and tell him all these signs. We're not professional doctors so we can't give you a proper medical diagnosis!
Good luck, I hope it's nothing life-threatening!

Sounds like one of the following to me:
thyroidosis
lymphatic cancer
pinched nerve
potential aneurysm
If your current physician is wasting time before getting you in for tests, then FIND ANOTHER DOCTER, SOONEST. Sorry, without knowing where you live, can't help with a physician'sreference.
