im going to walk around the college and see what facillities it has to offer. but i dont know the name of this reseatch, it might be observative reseatch buit im not sure. i know its not focus groups and internvies and all that but i think it might be something else whoch i dont know

If you're going to count things (how many handicap entrances) etc. then it is quantitative research based on an observational study. This might follow a research hypothesis of "there are insufficient handicap entrances to meet legal requirements"

If you're going to ask people what they think about the number of handicap entrances then it is qualitative research based on individual opinion survey or interview. This might follow a research hypothesis of "most students feel that there are not enough handicap entrances"

I get the impression that you're planning the first type example.
