To me their is none btw. Only a historical one ... I bet the Vatican would still do to non-believers what it did to them in the Middle Ages if they tought they'd get away with it.

I am sure they would. I have read a few books about how wicked nuns are to unmarried women in Ireland & it would make your hair curl i was shocked to the core, they had the last convent/home closed in the 1990's. Yes 1990's not 1890's. All religions are as bad as each other. Religion should be a personal thing.

I'm inclined to agree with you. And for those who point out that it isnt the 'Middle Ages' any more - that's only a relative observation. It may not be the Middle Ages for us, but for much of the undeveloped world where Islamic fundamentalism and the idea of Jihad originates - it absolutely IS the Middle Ages - and in some cases - it's positively the Dark Ages.

The Catholic Inquisition ended about 500 years ago. The Muslims have never stopped killing and maiming people.

They even kill and maim each other - cutting off hands, stoning women, slow hanging...it never ends.

I'm from the UK and I think that Bush is absolutely right in making sure that none of those mid-East psychos ever gets nuclear weaponry.

The Inquisition was all about converting the world to Catholicism, while the Muslim holy wars is geared towards taking over the world.

Two things...

a few centuries...

and the intellectual enlightenment in western europe, leading to philosophy, science and reason.

Although the 'enlightenment' is by no means guaranteed to continue in the west, due to christian fundamentalism (esp. in USA), I can't see how islam will ever open up to any kind of post 11th century civilisation.

The Catholic Church has outgrown that kind of fear-based response to anything different.

Give them another 7 centuries or so and maybe the Muslims will too.

The difference is that Muslims are following their holy scripture instructions..the Koran and hadith.
And Catholics are not following their holy book..the Bible.

Historical and "denomination" --different religion, but you could have thrown the holycaust in with your query.

No difference, except the numbers. The genocidal Vatican has murdered more people than any group in history. Many of those people were murdered for simply owning a Bible.
