steven? you have proof that OJ killed two people and got away with it? if so this evidence is ground shattering and should come to light, I personally think OJ did it too, so you should provide this evidence

Provide a citation for the ACTUAL case. Without MANY more details than you provided, not even the JURY in the case can tell why this particular person was not convicted. I am willing to bet it has NOTHING to do with they persons job. IF that was a factor at all, it would make most juries LESS sympathetic.

Steven C may not be able to PROVE OJ killed anyone, but the PUBLICLY known evidence is hundreds of times more convincing than anything YOU presented against the unnamed cop. Actually, you didn't present ANY evidence, just an accusation.

Why did OJ get away with killing two people in the 90's? Because that is how our court system is set up. You can have a lot of evidence against some one but they still are found not guilty. All because some one liked him as a player or in this cases maybe some one had a father that was a cop and felt a guilty charge would hurt their father. Who really knows.

NO, a person who happens to be a police officer was possibly intoxicated, strikes a pedestrian and is acquitted of criminal charges. He doesn't "get off" as you suggest. He will live with this for the rest of his life and most likely lose a civil case.

When your a police officer and have to deal with the crap we do on a daily basis, come tell me when your perfect.

If you drink and drive and kill someone you should get the death penalty. Sounds severe right? The victims life is gone, why should the drunk driver have the right to live to a ripe old age?

He shouldn't have got off... But as for the bigger questions, cops are people too. They aren't always cops, they get off work, go home and are normal people. They make mistakes and do stupid things just like everyone else.

Just because the guy's a policeman doesn't mean that he can flout the law. If he broke it, and it sounds like he did, then he should be punished to the full extent of the law like anyone else. If he was let off by a judge who knew he was guilty then the whole rotten lot of them should go to jail.

Same thing happened in the Seattle area a couple of months back; nobody died, but nobody got punished either, despite the baby's being in intensitve care for SEVERAL days.
