...Could they be subtly brainwashing?
And take away a need to run to God more for what we need?
...but instead put the tape/CD on?

I had practiced self hypnosis or anti anxiety meditation by listening to tapes. To overcome test anxiety. Yes there are subliminal messages in them. And one is causing self to have tingling from the hand to the head, etc. Or visualize letters floating. This can be dangerous, especially if you put yourself to sleep this way. A protective shield over your mental & physical & spiritual gets broken into. And that leads to a breakdown. And a word from someone else can trigger the spell.

I ended up in a trance with physical reactions & seeing visions & hearing confusing voices & feeling magnified (up & down); & that was the beginning of a 1yr breakdown. I couldn't sleep completely or wake up completely for 1yr. Only When I finally was prayed for at the front of Church & the Holy Spirit anointed me with the Spirit of Truth was I healed from the breakdown.

I don't consider worldly confidence tapes, etc. brainwashing. Because to me the word brainwashing indicates cleaning stinking thinking.

I consider Gods True Word brainwashing. I just cant take the washing out of the word.

People should instead give all their cares to the Lord for the Lord cares for us. Find out what the Word says about who we are in Christ. Become confident because God gives us assurance God loves us. Claim Gods promises over the insecurities.

The best solution of this sort, is believe what has been written in the Word of God. Yes, the Lord can bless someone to produce a CD or book. The only way to know what is real, is to be faith to God's word and allow Him to lead you to the best tap or CD that may fit your situation. Again, pray and read God's word to guide you in an appropriate direction.

Yes.

Yes.

Yes, Christians should pray and "confess" to one another.
Confess is to be open and honest with others that are of like mind. There are many others that have been through what we may be experiencing that have found a way to overcome the difficulties you are in.

Relaxation tapes are a quick fix and do not dig into the separation we are experiencing on the mental or emotional level.

I am inclined to agree with the person named Parklin. In fact you should seek out the will of God first, then follow whatever your heart tells you. God will lead you from danger. I know I have done this, and I have never regretted my decisions.

There are times I get so angry with my neighbor and their out-of-control dogs, but instead of going over there ( to the neighbors) and strangling those dogs with my bare hands, I turn to God and say," Lord, help me make it through the day." And he does. I am glad I have God in my corner. he helps to calm me.

I pray also that my other neighbors( who have weeds taller than my head in their back yard) will clean up before the weeds dry out and catch fire. Dry weeds are a hazard, especially in a lightning storm. Dont say, ask for the council to clean up the town, this is something that is not in their job description. I am over 5 feet tall

Please pray for my town.

Possible if somebody with that intent produces something like that, and there's no doubt that some people do. I feel, however, that for the most part, most of those efforts are genuinely designed to try to help people clear themselves of the negativity pumped daily into us so that people can be free to explore a relationship with God (in the way they choose). It's also a question of health and well-being.

Yes it's possible. Some are and some aren't. But we need to be aware of an underlying message from many self-help authors and books, etc. - that you can overcome anything by your own effort. This is sin in a nutshell! It's what Satan promised Adam and Eve in the garden. He told them, "You can be as God." But life and our human nature brings us back to reality that we can't be like God and we need Him. Many of these self-help tapes, books, etc. just delay people from going to the solution - Jesus Christ and getting real help!

I did them. I didn't know they were dangerous until my s**t hit the fan and then my pastor started mentioning all the ways the devil can get in and did I do any of them? I did ALOT. I Had no idea. They should put little red devil stickers on stuff so we know better.

Actually, that is why I am always battling my angry feelings (with medication and therapy). I never had them before. I Use to be very happy. I also forgot to tell you I did hypnosis too. You can tell I am no longer a cheerful person. The stuff messes with your mind.

i can't say it any better than semper fi did. the sad thing is, as much as we try to replace God in our everyday lives with relaxation tapes, self-help books, yadda yadda, they'll never even come close to doing what filling your mouth with the Word of God will do. it's too bad not many realize this anymore.

The brainwashing part, no. The take away the need to run to G-d part, I can see. I recall reading somewhere, the Lord helps those that help themselves.

Ladyeagle, I think you've made a valid assessment of the growing desire of a certain faction in this country and around the globe. Some wish to remove God from His Throne, and deny that He even exists. God Is Not Mocked.
