Go to your local Wal-Mart and in the sporting goods section, they sell a number of hunting and fishiing related handbooks. I have seen more than one cook book for cooking game on the rack. Pick up one of these if you want to keep a book on hand in your kitchen. If you only want to cook game on rare occasion, go to your local library and look through their cook books for recipes. While many recipes are pretty similar to those for non game animals, you have to keep in mind that game animals do not have as much fat as non-game animals and that the meat has a different taste in many instances. This difference in taste, while not significant, often requires marinading to get rid of it or mask it, in those instances where it is objectionable, some people refer to it as a wild taste. Some game animals, especially the older ones, are not as tender and require a wet method of cooking. However, I don't want to give you the impression that game animals are any less delicious than non-game animals, just that you have to take into consideration the differences between the two. You might also try this website. I don't know if they have game recipes but it is worth a check. www.allrecipes.com

First get a good game cookbook with chapters on everything from small game,(rabbits) to big game (Elk) There are some wonderful recipes out there.
Game has a great taste and texture, Chiefs from all over the world have perfected recipes for all of them. Fish, Fowl and Mammal.
My personal advice is not to over cook the venison. Enjoy.

whatever you are planning to cook make sure that you have cleaned it well and remove as much of the membrane and connective tissues to make the meat more tender and less "gamy"
Then cook it how you like it use rabbits and squirrels in stew,
Venison as roast or steaks (stew is also an option but I personally feel that is a waste of good meat). Game birds can be cooked like chicken (oh the many ways that can be done). Try smoking any of the above it is all good.

Go buy a cook book - thats what I did. At Barnes and Noble you can find an excellent book written by Ted Nugent. Its called 'Kill It and Grill It'.....and it has many recipes for almost all game animals. I've tried a few of them and they taste pretty good, although I've only used the deer recipes so far.

Put whatever you harvest in a Crock pot.* Yum, Yum .* Easiest and best tasting there is.* It really tenderizes the meat and has great flavors depending on the seasonings you put on it.*
