I've been told I have a gift for languages and I love learning them, so I've decided to major in either Romance Languages & Lit or East Asian languages (haven't decided which yet.) But, everyone's like, "Oh yeah! You should major in languages and then you can work for the CIA or the United Nations"...but I know those (along with translator and esl teacher) aren't the only "careers" you can do with a language major. What are some other ideas you guys have that I could look into?

Bilingualism (or multilingualism) can be an asset in lots of situations, so it depends what you want to do. You could, for example, be a lawyer who specializes in immigration or in international law, or a salesperson in a multinational company, or a nurse in an area with a lot of people who speak the languages you know. I'm sure whatever you want to do, there's a way to incorporate your language skills into that career.

I say go for the romantic languages and you could be a missionary like my parents. Or an international teacher. I know lots of people who are teachers at american schools in africa and the middle east. so actually each major would work nicely.
