"But I'm sure with my past questions, some of you COPS will get annoyed once again and lash out once again, which proves alot for the opposing team. becuz we are guilty til innocent. instead try a intellegent answer." Perhaps it's your offensive attitude that causes a negative response. May I suggest 'spell check"?

They do because they're afraid for their lives. Ever heard of the phrase, "once bit twice shy". If one in a thousand times you stop a car, the guy is ready to shoot you, you kind of have to assume it might be any car at all. It's not that you're proven guilty in a cout of law, but these guys have families that would like them to come home. And when their buddies get shot in the line of duty, they get a little nervous and assume the worst about people sometimes. It's how they stay alive. If you really want to do some good research, you should contact your local police department and see if they have a ride-along program. Sometimes they have quiet days. A lot of times they don't.

I have to admit that where I live, people are just ignorant! There is so much crime here and people will always throw their hands up in the air in disgust and say "why dont the cops prevent these crimes instead of waiting for them to happen before doing something!"
Families and community prevent people from breaking laws. Police show up to bust people and stop a crime in progress. They can't stop crime from happening, that would be a police state. We dont have that in the USA yet.

Because they too are human, having emotions and feelings in addition to having seen the more sordid side of human behavior. Though being in control in the vast majority of incidents, the time is gonna arrive when something will slip a little, and the normal human reaction occurs.

They 'jump the gun' MUCH less then YOU. It simply doesn't make National Headlines EVERY time you do.

I would LOVE to read ONE instance where this statement was backed up by anything resembling a fact. The fact I NEVER do suggests it is ALWAYS a personal opinion.

They see the worst in people and expect the worst in people. When someone with no ill intent is approached, cops treat them the same way they treat a bad guy. A combination of Adrenalin, testosterone and sometimes steroids make people really aggressive. I believe anyone approached by police should keep their mouth shut--other than to identify themselves when ask--and show no resistance. They will have a chance to tell their side to someone else.

I think because they have to be one step ahead of the "criminal". They go to work each day with the possibility that they may not be going back home. That doesn't make it right, but they jump the gun because they want to protect themselves against any violent act.

Having one of the most dangerous lines of work today, the unpredictability of man has become increasingly more dangerous for officers. Many laws have been enacted that it make harder for them to do their jobs. And by the way, if this isn't your personal opinion, whose is it, fella?
