One of my favorite things is buying a shoulder roast and putting it in the crock pot with a large can of cream of mushroom soup. Cook it all day on high and it's done when you get home! Then all I have to do is fix the mashed potatoes and salad. I also have cooked pork chops, chicken and other beef dishes in my crock pot as well. Check online at some of the recipe sites, and just search "crock pot" and you will get lots of good recipes. I always use http://www.allrecipes.com and http://www.cooks.com
Enjoy!

I have one if u like to try it is a easy pot roast recipe:
1 3-4 lb pot roast trim some of the fat off
1 jar of barbacue sauce, 3 tbsp mustard, 1 can beef broth and salt and pepper mixed together to make a marinade
10 little red potatos or regular potatoes cut in half or quartered to fill bottom of the crock pot
1 tsp each if u have it rosemary, thyme and parsley sprinkled over the potatoes and add salt and pepper to taste over the potatoes..
directions: make the marinade a day in advance if u want and let sit in fridge... cut potatoes and layer in bottom of crockpot and sprinkle with herbs and salt and pepper and add meat u can either use the meat frozen or defrosted, and pour entire marinade over meat to cover and bake on low for 6-8 hours, or high for 4-6 hours and the meat will fall apart and the potatoes will be good and cooked in the marinade... I hope u enjoy this and have a good week...

One of our favorites is corned beef brisket. Just toss the brisket in with the seasoning packet, add 2 quartered potatoes, 1 quartered red onion, some chopped celery, lots of garlic, and a couple bay leaves. Add about 5 cups of water and a beer. Cook on high all day and it will be so tender!

I usually buy a roast and throw in...cook it on low and then when you get home add your veggies. I use carrots, a couple large potatoes, celery, one onion..Just add all of these things to taste.
Add some water to the meat before you leave for work. So it won't scorch. Sometimes, I will throw in a packet of Stew flavorings or just add the seasonings you like.
Also Ribs are great for this..cooked on low..add some bbq sauce on them and them them cook..then when you get home they are done and you can put more BBQ on them for flavor..I have also heard of throwing a can of beer in with them and saurkraut..I have never tried..but It may not be bad..

if you eat meat...put 2 pounds of any kind of non-ground meat in there with a 15 oz can of whole cranberry sauce and a 15 oz can of plain tomato sauce (or can substitute with chili sauce instead), a thinly sliced onion and and plug it in.
YUM YUM YUM. Serve with rice. You could even put sliced potatoes in there with it, but keep an eye on the liquid so it won't dry out. Cook that baby over night or all day on low. EASY and YUM. If you don't like meat, try it with a bunch of root vegetables and same sauces. Enjoy

easy ones are.....sausage and sauer-kraut. Or a pot roast with a can of cream of mushroom soup. Turn it on high and leave it all day. I've done boneless chicken too, in cream of chicken soup. The soup keeps the meat really moist and gives it good flavor. Then you also have a gravy to use on a side of mashed taters :)

a slow cooker is a very wise investment. i am single and i live alone, so making meals in the crockpot is a very convenient way to have my meals finished for a few days. i, personally, like putting boneless, skinless chicken breasts in there with one can of cream-of-chicken soup, and maybe a chicken-flavored buillion cube. let it slow-cook for 10-12 hrs depending on how much chicken i put in. to this "recipe" you can add dumplings, egg noodles, veggies, etc. i also like to put in pieces of roast (chuck roast, rump roast, or even the "higher-end" pieces of meat like eye of round roast, etc) with just simply beef buillion cubes, no soup, no water, no nothing. the fat in the meat will cook down and turn into juices that will leave the meat tasting DELICIOUS after about 12 hours in there. but, to the people who aren't plain-jane's like me, you can add carrots, potatoes, etc to the mix and you'll have one heck of a delicious meal! when i worked at a race-track concession stand years ago, we used crockpots to make and keep warm our "sloppy joes" or "BBQ sandwiches", and to make and keep warm our chili sauce for cheese coneys and chili-cheese-fries. most of the crockpots usually come with a book of suggested meal ideas if all else fails... good luck with your new crockpot. happy eating!
