If you really want an honest answer out of me, then yes, I am deeply lonely. Yahoo! Answers only serves as some kind of distraction, to help me forget my loneliness.

I don't think so. Some people just want to share what they know with other people. And I guess they are the type who prefer to write pieces of advice than talk personally to those who are seeking for answers to their questions. I am not lonely, I used to visit this site before but I got too busy with my job that I only got the chance to be here now. I used to answer questions here for relaxation. We don't need to be lonely to pay attention to other people's questions in life.

I am not at all lonely , still I take out 4 hours everyday to read answers posted by other valuable members of the y/a community. I learn so many new things this way. I post my own answer to such questions where I am able to throw some light.

Yes, I really believe some are, they even admit that they have no life outside of the internet, no IRL friends. This is their life. Sad really.

Then there are those who just come here to kill time because they are bored for whatever reason, typically at work or something. They aren't lonely, just bored and doing this for fun.

Not really, I think a lot of us are a little bored, or like me, using this time to avoid doing something that I really don't feel like doing. Also, it's an outlet. Answering other peoples' questions makes me feel good inside, especially those that have a sense of desperation in them. It's a way for people to vent some of their issues and to find people that want to help, or can provide insight when things seem confusing or difficult.

I'm extremely busy and not lonely at all. I am slightly addicted though. I just keep my computer on all day and when I am in and out of the house I pop on line and answer a question, for some reason I find it therapeutic.

I'm not lonely, I'm just easily bored and find yahoo answers as a good way to alleviate boredom. I actually prefer this sort of Q & A to meaningless chit chat.
