I was bitten by a Labrador in the eye when I was four. I have scars on my belly from a Golden Retriever pup that was never properly handled. Just a few days ago, my own precious beagle mix bit me in the nose. BUT I have yet to meet the jaws of a Pit Bull.
How many of you have actually been bitten by the 'terrible' dogs?

It was more my fault on the Beagle bite really, I don't blame him at all. I was giving him belly rubs and he was showing me with his readable body language to stop, and of course I kept going. Got me a bloody nose.
I love Pits and that's why I asked this question, to show the Pit haters that there really aren't a lot of bites from them.

I don't know about bites, but there have been many victims to my "vicious" APBTs enthusiastic tail waggings (they can leave some nasty welts if you get behind her).

I have never had a problem with a Pit Bull, a Doberman, a Wolf mix or any of the killer dogs. The only dog bite I have ever had was when I was walking down the street and this killer Dachshund ran out of the yard of this house and leaped at me and bit me on the knee. I kicked the dog and the owner came out of the house yelling at me for kicking his dog. I was about 16 at the time so you can guess what I told him.
I have two Pits and don't think they know how to bite.

There is no such thing as a terrible dog. Most dogs bite out of fear or because they have been taught to attack not because they are mean. I have been bite by a wolf hybrid before but it was my fault for interfering with a dominancy battle started by a golden retriever mix. I was also bit by a golden retriever who lived accross the street. My whole arm is scared pretty bad from it. The dog tried to attack mine and my dog being the submissive boy that he is coward behind me. Luckily I was able to grab the golden by the scruff and pin him to the ground lond enough for it to calm down. I soon found out why the dog attacked. The owners kept her outside on a chain all day which creates territorial behavior and skepticism. Once she got out she did the only thing any dog who lived it's life on a chain would do, she attacked anything that came near her territory. Unfortunately that was me walking my dog in front of her house. I've never been bit by a pit bull though. Actually I've never seen any signs of aggression in any so called "dangerous" breeds.

My parents pomeranian dog was actually attacked 3 days ago by a pit bull, and he almost didn't make it. It severed both his back legs, they were hanging on by a thread and he has several deep punture bite marks all over his body.
In some respect I agree that Pit Bulls can be a wonderful pet for some. However, a lot of times people inbreed pits which makes them more violent a lot of times. Some people intentionally get pit bulls and make them agressive, and others just don't take nescessary precautions or become informed on how to raise a dog that has violent tendencies.
The thing about Pit bulls that somewhat differs from other dogs that have been known to kill people and not just attack them (such as a mastiff or cane corso), is that once a pit bull has the taste of blood from another dog or human, it becomes "tainted" meaning it will be 85% or more likely to attack again in the near future, including small children or people, or other pets, usually unprovoked.

One of my friends has two pits . One female and One male. They are the sweetest dogs and would never offer to bite anyone! It's all on how the owner trains them and treats them and I have to say my friend did a very good job.He really takes good care of them. On the other hand my brother has a friend who owns a pit and the pit is tied up in yard and taunted all the time . He's very aggressive because of that. Im reluctant to even go around that place for fear the dog might get loose and eat someone alive.

I've been around so called "vicious" breeds all my life - german shepherds, dobermans, and pits. I've never been bitten by one of them. All have had responsible owners that treated and trained them well. THe dogs never felt a need to bite or become aggressive.
I was, however, bitten by a neighbor's sheltie - cute little dog with a bad attitude.

Ive never been biten by a pit bull because every pit bull ive met is nice and i even own one . Hes a pure white rednose pit mix and hes adorable but people think hes going to bite someone .I have been biten by Labs and Cocker Spaniels and trust me i dont like them as is . I'd trust my pit bull with anyone over a lab or retriever any day ...Its not that i dont trust them its just that my pit mix knows how to behave around people and what to expect ..

I was bitten by a pit bull but it wasn't vicious. I was outside with my dog and his leash was clipped to my belt loop. My dog wasn't leash aggressive, per se, but he did always try to protect me against other dogs. The pit bull got loose from a hosue nearby and came up to us. My dog started growling and a scuffle ensued. I just got caught in the middle. I don't blame the dog.

I have never been biten by a pitbull and have owned them my whole life. I was biten though by the neighbors dog (a police dog, german sheperd) it got loose can in my yard at a full run and grabed me by the head it top fangs went through my skull above my eye and the bottem teeth went through my cheack and it fliped me by my head. keep in mind i am 6 foot tall and way 200+ pounds and he though me like a rag doll. i am fine just scared i am not tryin to trash on german sheperds but i am tryin to say ANY dog can bite not just pitbulls and other dogs can be just as viisous.

Pit Bulls are nice.
Blame the deed not the breed.
How can you say my precious beagle bit me but I have never been bit by a terrible pit bull? I think your dog is vicious and would stay away from him. I'm not saying my dog is an angel, shes an overprotective yellow labrador....but she has saved my life a few times.
