My pembroke corgi female named gracie has been chewing on her paws alot lately. she was born on march 16, 2007 (not even a year old). She will even whimper when she does it, like it hurts her, but she still does it. Gracie is our first dog, should we take her to a doctor, or is it just 'puppy play'? PLEASE HELP GRACIE AND ME!

I think you mean she had her dewclaws removed? They're about an inch above the paw, positioned like your thumbs are, (left paw has a dewclaw on the right side, and vise versa) and they are on the front paws.
So if your dog doesn't have any there, that is what was removed.
Unless she has been chewing on her lower forearm, it probably doesn't have anything to do with the dewclaws.
As other people have said, it is possible that she could have gotten a bee sting, or a splinter or something else, but if she doesn't have any problem with you touching it, chances are that it's just an allergy.
I would recommend waiting a couple of days to see if she still has a problem with her paw. If she still does after a couple of days, then you can go ahead and take her to the vet if you want to. However, this is a common problem and nothing serious.
There is also a website that you can go to that lets you ask a real vet. It is possible that she would recommend some kind of medication that you wouldn't need a prescription for. The website is www.vetask.com.
I hope this helped!

Does she cry when you touch it? Dogs often get grass between their toes and it works it way up the nail bed I had to have my dogs foot numbed wile they searched around and pulled out a big piece of some kind of grass weed that had worked it's way up about two inches in his paw.

Yes take her to a vet, it could be an allergy. Sometimes foot allergy can result in nail falling off.

It could be allergies or fleas. I reccomend you take her to the vet. Most likely it is fleas, and they are bothering her. Buy her some frontline from the vet. The vet will tell you how to apply it and everything else. TAKE HER TO A VET..

take her to the vet. it could be that she has something stuck in her paw (splinter, grass, bee stinger... the list goes on and on). it could also be allergies. dogs often lick and chew their feet when they have allergies, for some reason. i guess maybe the skin on their feet gets irritated because of them? either way, we won't be able to really help you.
