He's a 5 year-old golden retriever. Nothing has changed in his diet or living conditions. Is there anything that can be done to restore the blackness to his nose?

This sounds crazy but someone told me it was caused by them eating or drinking out of a plastic bowl. Some kind of reaction to the plastic.

Seriously, I have never heard of that. Maybe a Vet Tech
will answer you.
Edit- I had a 16 year old Yorkie and her nose never turned
pink. I just looked this up on pedigree.com and they said
it could be a variety of things, they mentioned what that
gal said too, allergic reaction to plastic bowls.

i have a golden retriever, but hes 8 (and his nose is still black)

i think its just part of there aging process.. you can probably ask your vet

Here is the best answer, paint the nose with black spray paint, and problem solved.

Why would you want to change it, it's normal aging like grey hair.
