I want to cook a meal in my crock pot, but I am worried about leaving it on all day while no one is home. Is it a fire hazard?

I leave mine on cooking all the time. It is safe, just leave it where no one can knock it down and away from other appliances. I put mine in the middle of our counter away from everything else. But you can make some really great meals and not have to worry about them at all. Try stuffed peppers or try a whole chicken in tomato sauce with a little hot sauce, when it's done put it over pasta. It's really great.

I believe the Crock Pot was made simply for that purpose, if it was a safety hazard theyd be recalled

I have done this a ton of times, and my crock pot is about 15 years old. You should be safe.

It won't start a fire unless you have dishtowels, paper towels, or anything flammable touching it. Just put it on a cleared counter and leave it on low. I do this all the time on weekends and forget about it, and nothing's ever happened. So if nothing happens when I'm at home, nothing will happen when I'm away.

People have been doing it since they invented the crockpot. Just make sure that it is not touching anything besides the counter. I set mine on top of my stove.
