being apathetic is worse than being unintelligent. And then he calls himself a narcissistic, selfish, and generally a prick. I don't understand this guy at all. He seems to be a jerk. He's nice one minute, then the next, he's a jerk. What do I do, and what's his deal? Please help.

He's a jerk, he knows he's a jerk by your statements, he's upfront about it, what's the problem? If you are asking if he's going to change, no he will not. He is who he is, like him or leave him.
