He was very mentally abusive, so now my confidance is really low

You don't. Even if you leave and don't ever go back this person will always be in your mind. You will always have love in your heart for this person.
If it didn't work out the first time and second time and third time, ect. What makes you think it will ever work. It will be hard but move on with your life and find someone else.

Just go out and meet new people, I've never had to get over anyone that I've had a relationship with that long but I still know its very difficult.
Basically you just need to go and meet somebody else, somebody who makes you feel good about yourself.

You realize that after 3 years and no marriage proposal you should have dumped him and quit wasting your time. You admit he wasn't a nice person, so what's to get over? You should be glad he's gone. Get therpy for your emotional issues.
