- All-natural trail mix (if you can afford it, buy the organic variety)
- Walnuts (high in omega 3, great for snacking or adding to your cereal, yogurt, or salad)
- Nature's Path cereals. It's the best of the organic cereals
- Plain oatmeal
- All-natural granola or fruit-n-nut bars
- Fruits-- any kind
- Vegetables-- any kind. Make sure you have vegetables at both lunch and dinner. If you can, add them to your breakfast too. You can make a veggie omelet. Snack on them too. You can have carrot sticks dipped in hummus or celery sticks filled with peanut butter.
- All-natural peanut butter (for celery sticks or apples, or on whole-grain toast)
- All-natural hummus (to spread on whole-wheat crackers or pita bread as a snack)
- All-natural Whole-grain bread. Make sure the ingredients read: Whole [type of grain, such as wheat or rye] flour, water, yeast, salt.
- Fage yogurt, if you can find it. It's a Greek yogurt that's low in carbs and high in protein. If you can't find it, buy organic plain yogurt. Sweeten it with all-natural sweeteners like pure honey or fruit jam.
- All-natural granola to add to yogurt.
- Olive oil. Use this in your salad instead of commercial dressings. It's MUCH healthier.
- Organic, vegetarian-fed, cage-free eggs. These are superior to conventional eggs.
- Wheat germ. This is a superfood. It's high in Vitamin E and folic acid. Sprinkle it on your cereal or yogurt, or use it as a breading for chicken or fish.
- Milled flax seed. This is very high in omega 3 oils. You can add it to oatmeal, cereal, or yogurt.
You might have to go to your local health food store to find some of these (like the cereal).
