I just watched a news program called 20/20 on Yahoo News about two children aged 7 and 9 who are preachers.

Isn't it a little sick to stoop to that level to suck in new blood to church?

Obviously people are gonna think those kids are cute and they will be sucked in.

I don't mean any disrespect to you religious people, but I do not think it is right for childrens education and life to be taken from them at such an early age. If you believe in a God that's fine, but I really don't think you need religion to do this.

I personally think it is a new time low! the churches should realise that the kids at this age are not old enough to make a, reasonable, decision about their religious belief. They don't have the knowledge to make an decision based on evidence and logic. This is why Christianity and it many churches prosper so well, for they have their doctrine Incorporated into the school curriculum, these kids are indoctrinated without their consent and without any thought to the implications to the way they interpret this info'. Children are the computers of the human race, what we input is what they become, they are gullible and naive, the churhc preys on this and takes advantage of them, then the faith of the parents is pushed on the child. Children should be taught both sides to religion and the theory of evolution and Atheism, they should learn about all faith and all sides of those beliefs. to do anything else would be a crime

No!
I met a man who started preaching grade school, and he grew up to be a strong in the Lord, wonderful husband, father, preacher and evangelist. As far as "isn't it a little sick to stoop to that level to suck in new blood", that is a cheap and offensive statement not worthy of answering to.
As long as these children are preaching the truth, what is wrong with it? Would you rather they were hanging out on the couch watching TV? Would you be okay if they just played video games all day or slept till noon and then went to the park to smoke dope? I mean knowing and preaching the gospel truth is a wondrous and beautiful avocation, whether you be 7 or 70, and infinitely better than what 95% of 7 or 9 year olds are doing. Leave these kids alone! They are doing God's work!

I guess it depends on the child - you've mentioned 2 - that's not many in the scale of things

As someone said Jesus was 12 when He read God's word in the Synagogue - and Samuel was a child when he ministered - there are probably more examples in the word - just can't think of any now...

Having said that i don't agree with forcing anything on to children - if they show a natural interest, it's acceptable to guide them. I didn't watch the program so i can't comment on these two children.

First of all this was a story about those two children. No one in Christianity is grabbing children and starting a Mickey Mouse church house. I don't know the full circumstances of these children's lives but I do know that if they are professing the ministry at an early age they must endure high scrutiny before they are accepted as young ministers. Also as cute as you think it might be very few.... I mean very few people attend a church that is lead by a young kid. You need to get your information right.~

People who get sucked in by these two boys are not getting "sucked in" because the boys are cute. Jesus was a boy when he spoke in the temple and there were many others. Parents teach their children things and the children may or may not feel called to do these things but what right have you to try to stop them? If the boys want to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ (which is what Christians are commanded to do), they should be allowed to do so without people accusing them of being puppets for their parent's profit. Children aren't mature enough to understand why someone would hate them for what they are doing. The real harm would come when they discover this.

Not all religions are like that. In Wicca, for example, children are often NOT included in religious observances (although they are allowed to attend public festivals) and Wiccan teachers won't deal with anyone under the age of majority. Many Wiccans believe that religion is an adult choice and not to be forced on the young and impressionable.

I agree- kids that young don't have any choice what they believe in; they believe in whatever their parents believe. Very often, they never change. But they could do, and taking innocent children out of their life to do this is wrong.
Personally, I think all children of this age should be brought up agnostic until they are old enough to make their own choices. Instead of being brain-washed so young.

i imagine you may properly be lacking the point of what they are doing. in the adventure that they save on with element of Jesus' teachings, they don't look asserting "I style of trust that he's the son of a God, which I also style of trust in". they are going for the teachings, no longer the beliefs. next off, on the different aspect of the coin how can theists might want to be so boastful to declare that there is a God. you may want to assert that that is like claiming that you comprehend each and everything about the universe.

Religion is too low for human beings.
Human beings will do anything for power, money and position.
Religion is another political party which is not reined as the rulers use religion and the religions use rulers.
They are 2 sides of thew coin pretending to be on the opposite sides of the same coin but have the same goal, purpose and life.

Of course, it's just another scam gimmick. Anyone with half a brain would know better than to get religious instruction from a child. Then again, when you look at how so many parents today let their kids run the show, perhaps it's not so surprising.
