Human nails are made out of keratin which has a tendency to break by wearing and tearing of the hair like tissue inside of it. It breaks because of the dryness caused to it just like the skin. Nails are usually made up of dead cells and do not hurt us when they break. Finger nails grow faster than toe nails. Nails have a tendency to accumulate dirt, virus, bacteria and other sorts of dirty particles especially the toe nails. It is advisable to cut your nails on a regular basis or just cut them when you feel they are coming in your way of daily work. Nails should be properly cut with the help of a nail clipper or nail cutter. You have to keep your nails clean and tidy. You can also get manicure done to give a good look to them.

Nail Breaking does not have any connection to Cancer. Please remove this idea from your mind.--

But when we talk the subject Cancer, please note that some times the nails break after chemotherapy treatments, due to the chemicals givve for this therapy.-

Before you all start thinking cancer ask your uncle if he's eating enough protein, eggs, red meat, spinach etc. A lack of protein will cause nails to break easily. I have cancer and my nails before I was diagnosed oddly enough grew so thick and strong and fast, way to fast, and to cut them I had to buy toenail clippers because regular clippers wouldn't work.
Your uncle should be asked about fatique, pain in certain areas. Loss of appetite and getting sick easily and staying sick for no apparant reason. I really hope he's well and if your family even thinks cancer he must have a complete check up with a CBC and urine everything. Good luck

No this is NOT a sympton of cancer. It could be a sign of a a vitamin or mineral deficiency. He may also just have plain old brittle nails! Since I increased my calcium my nails have grown stronger. There are also special nail polishes that can strengthen them. (yes, uncle you can get clear so no1 will notice)
