when I open any file with extention pdf it opens with unkown symbols

PDB format files from the Protein Data Bank or other sources usually require minor modifications with respect to residue and atom names before they can be read into CHARMM or Amber, the main modeling packages used by the MMTSB Tool Set. CHARMM also requires unique segment IDs at the end of each PDB line

Did you mean pdb or pdf?

Pdb can be different things, look here:

Pdf opens with Adobe reader which could be downloaded from various sites.

pdb - Program Database
This is type of data file open by different programs: Quicken or MS Visual Studio.net. The file/s is/are there to support and record the projects in those programs. It may contain demos of those programs.

A .pdb file is usually opened with an E-book reading program. Here is a site that will explain what it is and has a downloadable reader.
