For the past few weeks this church in my neighborhood is sending people to my door at random times. It's getting to the point to where Im avoiding being home or answering my door. I was just curious if no solicitation signs also apply to religious people pressing their religion on you?

They keep making snide comments like "oh your going to have three children,, How can you afford that? I dont think you can"? I keep telling them "im not interested" but they wont take no for an answer. What do I have to do MOVE!!

The Jehovah's Witnesses, who are best known for knocking on doors, are required to obey "No Trespassing" signs. "No solicitation" implies that the intruder is a salesman.

If you post a "No Trespassing" sign and it is ignored, you have legal recourse.

Put up a no trespassing sign and tell them if they come back on more time, you will file a restraining order against them...and then do so. That way next time if they have the audacity to show up again...you can legally have them tossed in jail.

And I wouldn't answer the door with a gun in hand just for the purpose of chasing them off; I believe in most places that would be seen as threatening someone with a deadly weapon and would get you into trouble with the law. Only do something like that if they are actually forcibly breaking into your home and you are in fear for your safety.

Yes. If you have a No Solicitation or a No Trespassing sign anywhere on your property or even if you just rent and have a No Solicitation sign by law people have to respect that, including door-to-door religious missionaries. If they don't respect that then they are trespassing and you can file a complaint against them.

Post a "no proselytization" sign or "No solicitation, *this includes religious and political organizations*" as seeking new members actually is part of soliciting.

You can also get them on tape admitting that they've been told to not come before and SUE for harassment, but they might burn down your house.

Of course, this works SO well, as I just kicked witnesses off of my porch. AGAIN.

I think that a "No Solicitation" sign does apply to religious evangelists in most areas (because they are soliciting you to join their religion.) You can call your local police to find out what the law actually says. In my area, if they ignore a "no solicitation" sign you can have them arrested for trespassing. (I haven't actually called the police on them yet, but after them ignoring the sign several times I warned them I would next time they disturbed me, and they stopped coming.)

Well, we certainly know they are NOT JW coming to your door, as the friends wouldn't talk to you like that. You're best bet is to call the church as ask for the head guy and voice your complaint.

For the Heathen girl. No, you DON'T have the 'right' to shoot anyone in Texas. If you do this you'll end up in prison and quite possibly on death row.

Next time they come to the door, have pamphlets from a different religion and pass them out to them. Ask them where they're from and go to their church in the middle of service and pass out pamphlets. Try preaching to them a bit about Satanism, or Paganism. Whatever will offend them.

Contact the pastor and tell him to put you on your "No Visit" list. It's worth a try.

I have a no bible thumpers sign by my doorbell but it doesn't stop some. I just say "quit wasting my time" and shut the door. The link to buy the sign is below:

I live in Texas. Here we have the right to shoot em. Answer the door with a shotgun. Amazing how fast they get the message after that.
It's trespassing once you have told them not to come back.

Put up a Private Property/No Trespassing sign. If you see them approach and ignore the signs, either call the police or shoot them with an air pellet gun. That's what my father does. Nobody (not even dogs) come onto his property unless invited.
