Is this a "Rail" query or "Philosophy" ?

I don't know if it would be defined as "LONG", but I make a monthly journey on the ACE (Altamont Commuter Express) from San Jose to Stockton (128 miles) when I go to visit my brother's ranch...

It takes me EAST, then WEST.
