ALL catholics? ALL christians? I think it is you who are generalising.
People do tend to group catholicism and christianity together because there are overwhelmingly more similarities than differences.
Milk chocolate and plain chocolate have more differences than christianity and catholicism but we still call them both chocolate.

It all started way long before, at the time of Constantine. When he adopted the term "Christian" and incorporated it to the pagan worship of the Roman empire. The empire cannot contain the rise of the True Church - Christians. The more they kill the Christians, the more the Christians grow. Only because Christians have the TRUTH. So, the empire made the strategy of coming up with the same name and style of belief of the Christians and twisted its Truth. And when the empire is beginning to fall, they made use of the religion as the bargaining power in the world. They declared the so called - universal church or the Catholicism. Thus, Catholics was the name they use for their believers and eventually used the extension Christian (Catholic Christian). I agree with CJ, the pagan belief of the Romans was to the Babylonian god - (mother and son) semiramis and tamuz. They interchange it with the mother and son characters of the Bible - Mary and Jesus. Sadly, many sincere Catholics are deceived to their belief.
As per the Theory of Evolution, it is a hoax. A deception and lie of the devil to the humans. He deceives men to believe that God doesn't exist so that he can control the humans. No cell in this world will just exist without a creator. Even a bubble is made out of the air under water. Haven't you asked, why do you breathe? how intrinsic is the composition of the human body? There is a Supreme Being who is responsible for the intrinsic composition of the human body. He is Jehova - God of Creation, the Almighty GOD. "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1) "So God created man in his own image...." (Genesis 1:27)

Because they're all a part of the same general religion that believes in the salvation throuth Christ. There are many different branches of Christianity with different takes on the whole thing. For instance, Catholics worship the crucifiction of Christ for our salvation where as Christians worship the rising of Christ from the dead as a celebration of hope. This is why Christians have the cross and Catholics have the crucifix. It's all fundamentally the same.

You are right. They are NOT fundamentalists and I do not generalize them or her children with true Christianity. To see what true Christianity is, read the book of acts and compare what was taught and practiced by the Apostles with your church's doctrine. If it is identical in every way then you are preaching the original message if not you are preaching something else.
Also I have met some catholics who do not believe in evolution. It takes more faith to believe in evolution than it does the word of GOD for me.

Only fundamentalists try to separate Catholics from the rest. The other religions define Christian differently. They consider anyone a Christian who believes in Jesus Christ as the son of God. Fundamentalists define Christianity as defined by a book which only became available to the general public in the 14th century and was kept alive by the non-Christian Catholic Church through the centuries until the real Christians could get ahold of it and bring the true religion to light.
Lots of people are capable of believing in Christ and evolution, too!

eh?
i don't actually got your question, but here's my side...
catholic is general.... catholic contains many branches.
christian in the other hand is a branch of catholic. and why do people generalize them as the same? maybe because of those meanings i've given to you above. also.. as you can see.... most of the humans occupyingthis very erath are christians.
what's with the theory of evolution.....maybe.... it's just a litle misunderstanding.

Because Catholics are Christian.
Catholics believe that Jesus was God's son and accept him as thier savior for salvation. That equal Christians, even if elitist like CJ think otherwise. He's just a Jesus Snob.

Please do not limit Christians to Catholics and fundamentalists. There's a wide spectrum of belief among the many Protestant sects that permits them the freedom to accept evolution or not as they choose.

I don't believe that to be true. Are you speaking for all Catholics? The pope doesn't believe that God had nothing to do with creation. I don't understand the question.

Because there are people like CJ in this world whose mission it is to be a tool of satan and spread lies, dissent, hatred and intolerance wherever he goes. Unfortunately, some believe him, and just like him, they do no research on their own.
