I am going through a rough point in my life, and I have labeled myself as agnostic. I just don't know if I believe in God right now. I have never seen any proof of it. Well, I told one person, and now I am even more socially isolated than before. People who have always be close to me don't even come around anymore. Why are people so threatened by difference of belief or opinion? Also, if there were a God, why wouldn't he help me right now when I feel so alone?

Birds of a feather will flock together! Christians will leave you on a drop of a dime and if your friends left you then they weren't friends to start with. You can see if they believed in God and preached it then where is the Love they are supposed to have? Jesus said to even love your enemies so where are they at? I would question if you really knew that they were Christians, maybe only by their words and not deeds.

You can assume that anyone who turned against you when you told them feels very threatened. The reason is always the same. If a man is sure in his faith, whether it is belief or non-belief, he does not feel threatened by anything. If he is not sure, he feels threatened. All you can do is keep the lines of communication open until the others realize you are still a good person and maybe come around, though some of them may never do so.

People find comfort in the familiar. Change and difference make them uneasy because it's not "their" way. You don't have to believe in their God per-say but a little faith in something never hurts. If these people who called themselves your friend are suddenly gone because you don't believe the same babble that they do then maybe they were'nt really your true friends to begin with. True friends are the ones that stand by you through everything despite what you believe. Separate yourself from their negative energy and find more positive friends. Whatever troubles you're going through right now, I hope you get through them. Remember, have faith in something. Good luck.

Because Christians find it easy to hide behind platitudes and by spouting bible verses but they can NOT tell you WHY their religion makes sense or, even worse, they can not tell you WHAT they THINK... all they can do, when painted into the dogma corner is give you quotes from the bible.

When People just parrot words and really don't UNDERSTAND the meaning of those words... they get VERY defensive when they are pressed for any concrete examples.

I was born and raised Catholic. I went to the Sisters of Loretto for grade school and the Jesuits for High School... I was expected to become a Priest and I was groomed for it...

THEN... in my last semester of High School, I started really questioning religion... not just the Catholic religion.. but ALL religions... and I started to see how religion is based on a false belief system... it's based on false logic... and it comes unraveled when someone with the training of a Jesuit Priest, starts looking at it... LOGICALLY.

Today I am a practicing ATHEIST and have been an ATHEIST for nearly 50 years. and I am much happier than when I believed a lie and tried to live my life according to that lie.

We believers were warned by God not to associate with non-believers for we may be drawn into their false beliefs. God Himself is trying to teach you a lesson by also ignoring you and letting you learn the hard way that you can't make it through life without Him. Open up to God and see just how fast you can make "good" friends. I will be the first.

religious difference is a very serious subject. get along with the wrong person and you will end up being like them, doing the things they do- good or bad.

that's the main reson why people are so afraid of differences. they maybe not strong enough to hold on their beliefs, that if they hang along with people with diff beliefs, they can't resist the temptation.

as for me, we should respect other people's belief and their differences. we should be mature enough to get along with them and strong enough to know that is right and wrong and hold on to it no matter what.

Jesus is God, and He will help you if you believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and rose again.

But some abstract idea outside of that about "god" will get you nowhere. You must believe the truth of who God is, and God is Jesus. Read the Bible starting in John. :)

I am not threatened at all.
SOME people are. Most people are not threatened by difference.
There IS a God. He WILL help you, but you have to do your part, too.
How are you treating other people? If you are nice to them, they will be nice to you.
Go out of your way to help others.

Everything will be fine.

If you don't reach out to god how you expect him to help you?
And you have no faith in him.
also, its very idiotic for someone to dislike you over something you believe.
