when my cat had 4 kittens on april 1st of this year, I decided to keep 2 of them. Mama has no milk left, and her babies are almost as big as her, and they both will try nursing off her once in a while!!! Is this normal, and are they just doing it for security reasons?? Mama does not let them try for long ,she either swats at them, or runs away...

they are sufficiently previous to be accompanied out. i think of you in simple terms have a superb mama cat. flow away her be and he or she'll wein them on her very own time. it rather is nearly like telling someone while they ought to end nursing their toddlers. conserving them aside rather won't resolve something yet looking the kittens a sparkling adoptive abode will.my lady pal had a cat that nursed her toddlers for long than mandatory yet she finally placed an end to it on her very own the kittens ended up being a number of the main loving nicely adjusted cats i've got ever had the excitement to comprehend.Mama will do what Mama thinks is maximum suitable for her toddlers it is not suitable in the event that they are human or kittens.

suckling is a bonding thing and very calming. if they are in the same house or environment, the kittens will continue to try to suckle. my outside cats do the same thing. eventually they will stop. the only thing is if your momma has another litter and the older kittens are still suckling you may have to separate them . the older cats will steal milk and jepordize the health of the newborns
good luck hun!

Don't worry about it. Mama Cat has it under control. They are doing it for comfort & security, but she is slowly teaching them that it isn't allowed. Instinct is a wonderful thing.

Some cats and kittens will do this. Some will continue up to 18 months.

it's normal.... momma is their security blanket, so they may try nursing for some time to come. momma is swatting them, letting them know they are annoying her, so eventually, they will stop.

take care!
