God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word
OK, this was an offshoot from my daily reading and I want to know exactly what it means in today's world, 2007, how do we "hang on every word". I know it means be in the word, but in listening and praying and being alive, how do you "hang on God's every word" when we are so biraged by the world ? I hope you see and if you don't I will check back and you can email me. I really want to grow in this area.

In to-days world it is very difficult to hang on every word of God.
I think an easy explanation of the meaning of the phrase would me a young woman so star struck by her man that she hangs on every word he says oblivious to her surroundings.

When I "hang on every word" that someone is speaking, I am listening intently, not want to miss a single syllable. When we hang on every word of God, we are reading the Bible with the same intent. Desiring to get the true and full meaning of all that He has to say to us. It also means we do so prayerfully, trusting the Holy Spirit to reveal to us not only the overall truth, but the personal application which will lead us to better fulfill His mission for us.

We hang on every word by paying close attention. Our attention is not diverted by things of the world. Turn off the TV, iTunes etc. when you do your bible reading, then pray and read the scriptures.
When you listen to a really good story you hang on every word, when the movie gets intense we stop, lean forward and even hold our breath. That is how it should be when we hear/read God's word.

As far as I can tell,this is basically saying to not just read Gods Word,but live it.I can remember as a child,we would memorize Bible verses and compete with each other.even though we were memorizing scripture,we didnt focus on the meaning of what it was saying to us.Psalm 119 says it best.This is one of my favorite scriptures.It speaks of hiding Gods Word in your heart so you wont be tempted to sin.And its true,if you stay in Gods Word and meditate or hang on it,your relationship with your Heavenly Father will be enriched.You are doing fine.Meditate on the things of God.Turn off the Tv and go for a walk and see Gods hand in nature,listen to christian music,this helps you stay strong in the world.

You won't be able to "hang on" if you don't know the word. Read your Bible carefully . Hang on each word until you understand it. Let it soak in so that in any circumstance, when a need arises you have God's word so in your mind and heart that it comes to your mind. Study the Bible which is The Word.

Who are you "quoting" when you quote "hang on every word"? That is not a Bible phrase so you would have to ask the person who made that statement what they meant by it. Also what do they mean when they say "God speaks your mother tongue"?

"hanging on every word" is an idiom for listening intently If I sit on pins and needles I am just anxious..not piercing my posterior. To follow God is not a task, his burden is light..you are free in the Lord.

I think it means that we listen to God's voice as He speaks to us through others, through the Bible, and in our hearts.
Pray to God, and He will help you. Ask Him to help you focus on Him instead of the other stuff.

well, that means we have to understand and accept every word of God and always put it in our hearts, minds, souls and strength because God wants us not to forget about it and applied it not for ourselves but also with the people of God......
