my hair is think and sort of curly, just small curls

yeah you can get long layers they would look best try them first because they are not so noticable then if you like them and are still not atisfied get them shorted

If You Have Thick Curly Hair It Is Probably Not A Good Idea To Layer It Unless You Straighten It Often. Because The Curls Will Spring Up Where Layered And Make Your Hair Look A Bit Puffy. Try Thinning It And Maybe Putting A Few Long Layers In. But If You Want To Go for An 80's Diva Kind Of Look Go Ahead =]

Layers look best with straight hair, if you have curly hair and its layered it will still just look curly but shorter in some places. There are different types of layering too, maybe you can ask your haircutter if it will look good or not before you decide.

i don't think layers will look good with curly hair. But my basic answer to hair questions applies, ask a stylist!! (s)he can also help you figure out how to get the look you want!
