I saw this story on the news. The story I saw compared McDonald's with Subway. Personally, I don't consider either restaurant healthy, despite both restaurants' claims. They both use meat laiden with preservatives and God knows what else, white bread (though Subway at least flavors theirs with honey mustard, wheat [it's not whole wheat from what I can tell], cheese, etc.) and both are likely high in sodium as well. However, I think Subway at least leaves the skin on their apples, where most of the fiber and nutrients are.
Besides, for $5 meal, I can go to the local Mid-Eastern restaurant and get a flaffel, hummus and veggie wrap. I could also go to Panera and get a hummus and sprout sandwhich on whole wheat with a whole apple on the side. Or, for $5, I can just save time and have several meals at home.
If advertisers relied on people who actually thought and read lables (like myself), they wouldn't sell as much.
