He dreamily stares at my son and purrs loudly when ever he walks into the room. He will follow him and meow, demanding attention and even trys to "kiss" him. No one else in the family gets this kind of attention from the cat. I am just curious as to why the cat acts this way around my son and no one else.

Cats take to certain people. For example, my dad picked out a calico kitten years ago, but she loves me the most. She is afraid and runs most of the time from everyone else and usually only sleeps in my room. I'm not sure why cats do this, but I do know that cats are very intelligent and have human-like personalities. He may like your son's attitude, smell, or some other reason. Cats are mysterious and unpredictable creatures, so it's difficult to determine the reason.

The breed of the cat may be a factor. I had a Russian Blue/Tabby who was "in love" with me, and hated the rest of my family. She would sit on my lap and stare, purr and drool as though she was infatuated with me. I have never had a cat before that showed such affection, so when she passed away, I really wanted to find a cat that would have her similar loving traits. After looking at the characteristics of a Russian Blue, they tend to be loyal to their owner(usually just one person). But of course, cats do have their own personalties and I haven't been able to find a Russian Blue like her.

We now adopted a Manx/Tabby and a Tourtie who both are loving, but one takes to my husband and the other takes to me. So check in to the breed thing and if thats not it, than it's just the cats personality.

Not an answer but yet another question, "Does your son spend more time playing with the cat seeing as it is possible you are the one spending more time cooking and cleaning? Maybe your cat finds it easier to get the attention it seeks from your son.

His 20 365 days previous son could be looking after himself and out of ways. If he's inflicting issues, tell your husband, and if he does no longer something, which skill he would not care approximately you, such as you think of. tell that 20 365 days previous jerk to get a life and circulate fend for himself, if the husband would not like it, then you extremely progression on with your life. I have a 6 month old kitten that does the same thing with my 5 year old son and it drives me nuts, he just pushes the kitten away and the kitten goes right back standing on his hind legs to love on him. He barely lets me pet him but the instant he hears my sons voice he goes off running to him, I have no clue why but if you find out let me know lol.

1) cat kisses are slow blinks not licking that just means the cat thinks he needs a bath.
2)the cat probably thinks that he is not contributing to the family or pride so the cat is following to see what is going on.
3)when the cat was 1st born it saw its mother and a man about his age.
4)your son WAS the 2nd thing the cat saw.
5)ur son isn't prone to scarring the cat.
=D i love cats i do my research.

Sometimes cats like one person more than their owner. Like, dogs are all over me! One is on me right now! But, even if you do everything, he might still like your son. My cat luvs me the most too lol. i think cause shes always around me.

My daughters cat did that to me. I don't like cats but if I took a nap on the couch he would come curl up with me. Would not let anyone else pick him up either. Cats are evil and just want to annoy you.

Chemistry. Like people, cats are just attracted to certain individuals. Not trying to be fresh here, but your son has animal magnetism. It's either that or his catnip-scented aftershave. :D
