To me this verse is one of the most important verse and muslims should be reminded that they will be judged for their interpretation of the Qu'ran:

----
The Family of Imran
[3.7] He it is Who has revealed the Book to you; some of its verses are decisive, they are the basis of the Book, and others are allegorical; then as for those in whose hearts there is perversity they follow the part of it which is allegorical, seeking to mislead and seeking to give it (their own) interpretation. but none knows its interpretation except Allah, and those who are firmly rooted in knowledge say: We believe in it, it is all from our Lord; and none do mind except those having understanding.
----

God is testing you in the Qur'an itself so everytime somebody comes to you with one of these "allegorical" verses that apparently justify killing or beating try to exercise logic and see if there is a clearer verse on the matter somewhere else.

As salaamu 'alaikym, my friend.

Insha'Allah, we see daily on the media how some men have twisted and tried to corrupt the meaning of the Holy Qur'an so that the message of peace, tolerance, love and justice has become one of violence, hatred and intolerance in a mixture of "pseudo-religion" and the cultural traditions of a particular area.

Unfortunately, those in the West who are not familiar with the Holy Qur'an and who know little to nothing regarding the cultures of the Middle East have been judging all Muslims and defaming Islam based upon their distorted personal views.

Insha'Allah, it is up to all Muslims to preach the truth by our lived example of kindness, compassion, caring, love, sense of practiced justice and teachings of equality, the practice of high moral and family values, etc.

Alhumdulillah!

Ma'a salaam. Eid Mubarak.

What I never understood is why does the Koran, or any other book of God, have allegorical verses?!!
Why should religion have ambiguity and indecisiveness?
There are many ways God can test us, other that giving us symbolic verses that if incorrectly understood could lead to the killing of many.

They know very well and will face God for their wrong doings. Deliberate misintepretating and misusing phrases of Quran for personal gains and taking advantage of simple people is a big sin not forgiveable. God calls such so-called scholars in Quran as the worst people on the face of earth.

There punishment is hell fire. Unlike Jews and Christians Muslims never say that heaven is reserved for them because they believe on Prophet Mohammad or God. If any one says that he is liar. Every ones weight of deeds will be checked on what ever method God will way. If good deeds are heavier then he will be rewarded heaven and if bad deeds remain very very heavy even after God tries to multiply rewards on good deeds by many many times using His mercy.
