Just wondering what kind of clothes me and my family should pack for our Bahamas cruise in January. I'm not sure how cold it will be. Also it sounds like they don't have any formal nights on this cruise and that is a little disappointing to me. For anyone who has been, how dressy can you and your children dress up for dinner and show without looking out of place? Also we are going the first week of January. Do people wear Christmas attire or Winter attire?

We are from California. So is it about the same temp as California? Or warmer?

I went on the 7 day western caribbean disney cruise, and there was a formal night and a semi-formal night. We went in January 2006, and It was amazing. The water at disney's private island was really cold though. But we had a blast on the beach. The water in grand caymen was perfect though. Make sure you bring a jacket, parties on the deck after dark get pretty chilly. During the day it is pretty warm, so you can wear what you would expect to wear in the bahamas, shorts and a tank top (for a girl at least). I thought that even the 3 day cruise had a formal night though. You might want to bring something just in case. If you dont dress up you look silly. I did not really see people wearing christmas or winter clothes though.

It's true that the 3- and 4-night cruises do not have a formal night. As for dressing for the weather, the temperatures should be very comfortable (we wore t-shirts and shorts on our January cruise), but bring a pair of pants and long-sleeved shirts just in case. As for how fancy to dress, it's entirely up to you... you will not look out of place dressed up nicely, but you can certainly get away with dressing casually as well; there's a wide mix. Ultimately, it's entirely up to you how fancy you'd like to dress. On our January cruise, we saw no one wearing Christmas or winter attire.

We found the weather to be a good mix. It was really warm in Cayman and Cozumel but cold on the Disney Island. Bring a sweater for everyone. I ended up buying a sweat shirt in Key west cause I was pretty cold.

Kids should have costumes. My kids wore their Princesses dresses all the time. You will see people very dressed up. I wouldn't wear Xmas stuff either. Do not miss the shows they are incredible.! I ended up with way more clothing than we needed!

Hello -- the average temp in Jan for south Florida is 75 for a high and 60 for a low. that is the average.
the Bahamas are 77 for a high and 62 for a low.
Nice weather if coming in from the North --on the cool side if you are from the South!
PS>I wear shorts year round now...

you can take shorts and summer wear but have a light sweater and some long pants just in case. It can at times get cold especially after you go tanning the evening wind is a bit nippy
