This is where organized religion doesn't make sense!
I am not religious but one of the reasons that I steer away from religion is because of several issues one of which you just asked about. Organ donation.
I know that not all religions condemn organ donation but some do, and I just can't understand how a way to save lives could be frowned upon by some in the name of religion.

As a practicing Christian, I am totally in favor of organ transplants. I think it is one of the best things you can do to help your brethren. I carry my donor card proudly. And yes, I agree with you that, since God gave us the knowledge and skill, we should use it to help those we can, and we will all have new bodies, completely transformed; so why hang on to a worthless piece of meat that will only rot, when it could help someone live?

Interesting. You'd THINK they'd be heartily in favour, given that our bodies are just a shell, a vessel for the soul etc. And when our souls have fled, and our bodies provide the chance to save someone from suffering or death, what finer example of Charity - without any loss to the giver - could there be?

I wonder, though, if this thinking will underly the majority response...

It is an honorable thing to donate an organ to someone in need. I don't have any objections. God is the supplier of all things including the skills and talents we possess. The very body I live in belongs to Him as I gave my life to Christ.

Bible does not say something approximately organ donation and it is not sinful to donation your organs, assuming which you're ineffective. So in case you % to be an organ donator you are able to desire to be in case you % to be.

IMO, reuse and recycle is the right thing to do, and that goes for body parts too. Once I am dead, I think scientists and doctors should do all they can with my body to help others, I have no need for it anymore anyway.

I totally agree with the asker in every aspect. Yes we do get new bodies, when Christ awakens us. I personally am donating my usable organs.

As far as Islam is concerned, organ donation is allowed but with certain norms.
