You ever give a child something and ask the child to share with others? And if that child does share, isn't it a joy? And when another child selfishly takes your gift and doesn't share, isn't it a terrible disappointment?
Which child are you?

It's not God who is causing suffering of people. It's wrong to say when something bad happens that it was an act of God. How do we know that?
We have to go back to when Jesus was on earth. Jesus was in the wilderness where the Devil wanted to tempt him. We see this in Matthew chapter 4.
It's very interesting what the Devil tried tempting him with. Read Matthew 4:8-10 - Again the Devil took him along to an unusually high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, and he said to him: “All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me.” Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’”
What was it that Satan tried tempting Jesus with? With the kingdoms or the world or, in other words, the countries. Could Satan offer something that wasn't his? No. It says in 1 John 5:19 that "We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one." Does it now make sense as to why there is so much suffering? Why some children don't have the comforts of life as we do?
But now the question remains, why is it that Satan is the ruler of this system of things? Why has God allowed there to be so much suffering?
These are all good questions. I encourage you to read this article on "Why Does God Permit Suffering?"
http://www.watchtower.org/e/20010515/article_01.htm
It not only talks about why but also on if this suffering will ever end and the promise that God has made for us.

Your bottled water is a product of industrialization and commerce. Not a deity.
Your bath is a product of energy, plumbing, and plentiful water supply. Undeveloped countries are often drought-stricken and lack the resouces, education, political power and personal wealth/freedom to maintain such a luxurious system of hydration and bathing.
I believe if humans stopped fighting over resources, politics and religion, that we could answer most of these problems. We are an ingenious species, but lacking in common sense, while seemingly over-developed in suspicion, superstition and greed.
No deity required.
Tell you what, forget hating religion and utilize your admirable concerns for good...

Thanks for mentioning this today. The amount of charity and good causes that get mentioned in R&S are negligible, so it is a real breath of fresh air. Or water...!!

Maybe GOD is touching your conscience this morning, giving you a heart filled with compassion for the poor.
The Bible teaches that true pure religion is to take care of widows and orphans and those in need.
Maybe today GOD is calling you into a ministry of service to others!
